1st Closet Op - How Soon Til I Should Flower?

Hello everyone! Need some experienced input here. Please take the time to look at my attached photos and provided any information or advice you may have. This is my 1st closet grow using 8 bag seeds (strains unknown)and organic soil. I intend on clipping the male pollen sacks upon their development or possibly just killing them once I induce the flowering period and they show up(advice please). Since I started with 8 seeds I figure at least half will turn out as males. Never the less, from the 3rd week of growth I have utilized the "FIM" pruning method, with them being in veg period for almost 5 weeks as of today. If you recognize the strain, could tell me the recommended flower time-window for these based on their growth, and/or if you just want to give some advice please do, I'd highly appreciate it!

Additionally I have been researching "SuperThrive" plant supplement and am on the fence about whether it's worth using. Let me know if you've used it before and what the outcome was.

well when you flower will depend on how much head room you have and the kind of light your running about the males just chop if you get some no need for them around unless your gonna bread

how big are your pots they look small may be why your plants are a lil behind in growth and why would you have more than one plant per pot not a good idea what if one jurns out male you cant just chop it because the roots will rot and that would be no good for the other plant in the pot

Unfortunately I didn't consider the root rot from chopping the males. Is there any way to salvage what I can to avoid root rot issues. In theory should I be okay if I keep the males alive all the while removing every pollen sack or even with extreme pruning while still keeping the males alive? I needed to transplant them from the 3 gallon containers they're in to something like those deep painters buckets like three weeks ago; Now it's at the top of my to-do list. I have almost 6ft of grow space vertically though. With my limitations I can only use CFL and Flourescent Lights; presently with 3300 Lumens@4200k from flourescents and 3200 Lumens@5000k from CFLs. Additionally I have kept a close eye on all of my nute levels which have all stayed optimal as recommended, that is until now. It seems the soil needs a little phosphorus and potassium. What's the most readily available product out there I can get?

A lot of people are using Fox Farm trio. This is good as it has a schedule for feeding for both vegging and flowering. I think that due to 2 plants in such small containers, they probably got root bound real quick. They are definitely behind if they have been vegging for 5 weeks.. now are you counting seedling time? i.e. putting the seeds into soil and the few days it takes for them to pop. I start counting veg days as soon as seed leaves have died off. What is your soil mix? I did not see any per-lite. If you can, I would use Netty pots to start out with so that you can plant only one seed per Netty pot.. they are like 50 cents a piece and work great to just put into the larger pot (smallest being of 3 gallons) and they will take off! I am going to try and use recycle bags from wally or local grocery store cause they are very similar to air pots/smart pots. They seem to be about 4 gallon, unless you stuff them :) . Make sure to drill proper drain holes if you end up getting the buckets. And invest in isopropyl alcohol and exacto blades, if you plan on attacking nutters.... cause you will be slicing for days. Make sure to lolly pop all plants, and you can prune some of the lower branches off cause they will start throwing fan leaves and you will have a hard time trying to locate all nutters... specially since you fimmed them, they are going to be very bushy. If you did a proper fim then you could get up to 8 main steams, where as I would eliminate any other branches off below them... I would also invest in those rings that you can put into the pot to soft tie branches and move them around and away from the other plant... wow, 16 main steams coming out of one 5 gallon pot.... I have to keep an eye on your grow. Good luck.. it does get addicting and you will just want to end up buying bigger and better things. I swore I was going to stay CFL through the grow, but (drooling at others 600 watt grows) I bit the bullet and got a whole flowering set up with 600 watt dimable.

These all were originally started from some decent bag seeds several years old. Once seeds were sprouted, I placed them into Jiffy pods for a week then transplanted to what you seen previously as what I have now and need to upgrade on. Estimating when they lost their seed leaves maybe 3 weeks in veg. then as of today. I have to get out to some nurseries or something; around here places are hard to come by that carry a real quality soil. Do you have a recommended place? Do the big dept. stores like Lowe's carry anything worth while? or should I hunt nurseries? I probably started off on the wrong foot either with my soil, by using a mix of Mircle Grow's Moisture Control & Orgainc Soil,Bio-tone Starter Plus, and perlite or with my container choice and past-due need to transplant to something more adequate. Nute wise the levels of the soil content has stayed consistent and optimal, only with a recent drop with phosphorus and potassium. Getting those buckets tomorrow; just got to find a quality soil (pref. organic).

I veg 2 months..Seems like a sweet spot for height plus cutting some clones along the way.

I have to keep the males alive only to keep from the horror of root rot affecting the precious females, due to my error of putting them in the same containers. If I kill the males their roots will rot and ruin everything for the females. Do you have an alternative to this method? Please read my original posts to review all the specifics and better undrestanding of my current setup.

Why do you want to keep the males?!
Mistakenly I started off with two plants per container not knowing either plants gender. Other members here on RIU have recommended keeping the males alive, instead of chopping them since their roots will rot and affect the precious females/the soil. This still isn't clear to me if it's solid advice, and any information and experience shared on this topic is much appreciated. Since my original pictures from above, I have transplanted the "paired" plants to 5 Gallon buckets. I got the bucket system idea from Global Buckets and hope it works out well. Additionally I want to know if this bucket setup is ok for growing our precious plants adequately. I've attached some recent pics below, so please leave a comment and some advice if you have any. I'm specifically interested about the last pic I attached, not sure what's up with the leaf. Great news, so far it looks like they all (8 plants)have female traits, although I understand it'll be more obvious around week 2 of flowering which I'll start soon.

You will probably not be able to clip the pollen sacs -- too small, too many and you risk spreading pollen. What may work is continually topping the males just below the second or third node, and topping, and topping and topping every time they grow out a bit -- that will cut the plant size down considerably. Then you might be able to remove pollen sacs as soon as you see them because there there won't be that many of them.

I'll have to hope for the best and wait for the plants to show their sex in the next coming weeks when I start the 12/12 cycle. The plants are too large at this point to utilize your recommended method, thanks anyway. No "Nubs, stubs, or male-like" formations found on any of the nodes so far. Still need solid advice on whether dead male roots will effect the living female roots in the same container. Any help would be great! (See prior pics/posts)
