1st attempt at DWC

Sup roller's....

So this is my 1st attempt at DWC. Got me a small diy cab with 3x23W CFL's running 24x7, 3 liter container (almost 0.8 gal) and clean RO water with ~ 6.5ish ph and under 10 ppm

15/8 did the paper towel routine. next day the seed cracked.. :)
17/8 planted it coco pellet in a 3" net pot with hydrotons and started up the air pump. getting good air flow i guess.

took some pics over the past couple days
Growth seems good. Even got a root (nice glassy clear one) poking out of the pot.
Whats bothering me is the purple on the stem. Last month i had another grow but in soil as thats what i know and have exp in. However all can get here is crappy soil or micrale grow. I had mixed up the usual batch of additions ( perlite, garden lime) but seedling died. Guess the soil was too hot. So decided to go the hydro way.

So now i am at 1 week since seed crack. Seedling is stretching, i see that. I dont mind the stretch as i plan on using this as a mother and chop clones off her for final grows.

But the purple. Same issue a last time. I can understand that maybe it was the soil earlier but this time it pure clean RO water. Havent even started the nutes yet. (Going to use lucas formula)

So the big Q is whats happening? Is the purple a problem? Maybe seed strain? I am told this is supposed to be orange kush.

Any input from you guys would be appreciated.

people claim purple stem can be a PH issue, clearly not the case for you.

in my experience i have had alot of seedling with purple stems and none of them really had any issues.

a PPM of 10 is a bit low, you should bump that up to maybe 75 just to give the plant a little somethin somethin for uptake, you 10 ppm is coming from minerals in the ro water. with hydro and ro water the only nutrition is what you give, you def dont want to go overkill on the lil guy but you also dont want to wait till you see deficiencies before you raise your PPM

so in a .08 gal maybe 1ml of your nutrient should give it what it needs if it needs it, i know seedlings hold nutrients in the cotyledons but that is depleted quickly as the plant is trying to push open its first leafs for photosynthesis and also work on root growth..

my 2¢ hope someone else can chime in as well.

also now that a root has pushed through the medium growth will pick up fast..its a slow process untill that root comes through but once it does its game over with the slow and game on with the noticeble groth every day.
