Yo Guys,

First of all: Great community, glad to be a part of it! Keep up the good work!

I've started my first grow (about) 5 weeks ago. I've been using Nirvana Seeds (Ak-48 fem) and growing outdoors - I live in SP, Brazil, that means summer ends in march. Beyond that, I'm using gardening soil (nothing special, but it's been working great for all my other non :leaf:) and a Nirvana product called Soil Tabs (And Flower Tabs). According to Nirvana, these products have everything a plant might need (on nutrients base).

About the care, I have been dedicating myself a lot to them: Even thou I don't have experience growing :leaf:, I'm always eager to learn and I believe dedication is the best way to care. I've been bending the stem and turning the leaves since it was possible. I watch it every day, sometimes I just sit close to the plants and play some music.

About the sun, the plant gets direct light only between 8:00 am and 13~. It still gets light during all day but, not direct.

About the plants, there are two right now. A) 14'', Hard Green leaves, strong stem, around 9 nodes; B) 12"", same qualities mentioned, around 8 nodes. There are no lack of nutrients so far!

I had one problem, thou: Red Spiders... I'm adapting a solution made by my grandma to deal with the problem: It's 20% alcohol, 80% water and there are a bunch of Carnation on it. Even thou it smells "sweet", the Carnation is tough on insects and small life, plus the alcohol litteraly destroy the red spiders @ contact. I spray a little on the stem close at the base floor, then I spray some on Cotton Balls and clean the leaves. I know, it's a lot of hard work, but since I got time for that and I only have two plants, it might sound a burden, but it's nice in fact. It feels natural, and the Carnation smell doesn't bother: in fact, it's kinda good - and since the plants are still vegging, there is no harm done. Beside that, when the eggs of the mites absorb water, they die, so the solution is not only natural, but safe.*

*I mean, this is my first grow: Please, if you are gonna use the Alcohol/Water Carnation, consult someone more experienced first and try slowly. I've been doing it for days, no harm done. Still... I might be wrong.

So, right now, I'm trying to induce flowering on the big one. It's been two days that I have been taking the plant inside, to a dark room that I don't use and it's 100% lightproof. I put them in the sun around 8 am and take the plant to the dark room around 6 PM. The day becomes dark at 8PM, but here I get some questions...

In numbers, it's been 10/14. But since the light isn't direct all day, I'm not sure how the math would work. So I'm attempting something that I read on a website, that if I put the plant in a 36 hours dark period, it usually triggers the flowering process. It's been 12 hours so far. But I am afraid of re-veg.

There are three reasons FORCING me to trigger flowering: I've read that :leaf: doubles in size during flowering, and I don't have that much space; the second is that family gets in here during xmas, so it might be a pain; at least, the smell: I can't have a giant Yggdrasil in my garden because of that.

I'm going to take some pictures and post in tomorrow morning so you guys can help me with your experience by giving me some calls. Even thou I compare with pictures, your knowledge sure will comes in hand to judge the plants and give me some tips.

In advance guys, thanks so much for keeping this webiste. You are really making a difference by really helping people because of a common love. This is my first cannabis forum. The reason I'm joining just now is because I have been looking for a community, and after searching a lot, this one has been the best i've seen.

Thanks for letting me in!

Keep on growing!

From what i understand the 36hour darkness thing is a myth. It may cause your plants to start flowering for ~24 hours but after that they will carry on as normal (ie vegging). That is just what i've read, though.Nirvana AK48 are fantastic IMHO. Curious to see how they fare outside. Good choice :)

Thanks, the AK-48 are really fantastic! I still got two of them, will take a pic later. About it on the outside, there are some videos, most of them scary to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7XsuyGz2EA It's alive! Regarding the light, I'm afraid that too much light depravation might kill it. Since it might take months to flower, I can't really set it in another place. I think I'm going for the 36, then going to jump into a 8/16 system, but since I have this problem with indirect light for some time, I guess it can only be solved by some good old try and error. On the other side, I am afraid that it might stress the plant. As I said, I don't want a big harvest, just a good one.
