kind of blows a hole in the theory of "zeroing out", huh?

fuck high times, weed is too expensive for me to be just blowing out like that.

i try to hold it in for at least 4-5 seconds.

and the other cannabinoids have an effect on your high as well. so why waste them?

I always knew that. As soon as the smoke enters your lungs it hits your bloodstream immediately. No need to hold your breath. You've already gotten everything you're gonna get.

yea i always told my friends that and they never believed me they would always be holdin there hits in as long as possible and i just hold my hits in for a couple seconds and theyre always thinkin there gonna get so much higher than me lol but they never did they just almost passed out from holdin that shit in for so long lol

I'm gonna have to jump on the bandwagon of "fuck high times".

On that note, while smoke does hit the blood stream nearly immediately it's only the surface area of your lungs that touches the smoke. holding it longer allows more of the smoke to circulate around your longs thus allowing more cannabinoids to be absorbed. If all the cannabinoids were absorbed immediately then it would be impossible to get a contact high. So holding is more effective.

I dont believe that at all. Not all the smoke is going to contact the sides of your lungs. Also ive been high from having hits blown at me before, as well as just being in a room with people smoking.

your capilaries in your lungs close when smoke hits them as a defense tactic, even if you wanted to absorb it all by holding it, the "door" is shut...

I wonder how true that is. I mean, if that where completely true then it would seem like it would be nearly impossible to intake enough cannabinoids to get high. Take tonsils for example, they filter out particulates in the air (mainly dust) but they don't do a perfect job.

it does certainly make sense however, weed works well in low doses so your capillaries getting blocked temporarily for a breath wouldn't affect the fact that you probably already got enough to get high.


I've also heard the heat of joints opens up the airways in your lungs better (but that could definitely be entirely myth.)

basically that 1 to 3 seconds is the time it takes for them to shut - after this, the smoke is "setting in" and starting to make resin lines and tar build up on the "closed doors"

Yet if the capillaries close quickly after being stimulated with smoke then it would suggest that you ingest more cannabinoids by eating then smoking. So why does eating not result in a more intense high?

it doesnt for you?

every time ive made cannabutter the eaten product got me stoned longer, and i was couchlock even more so than with bud.

maybe we used different ammounts of dope in our butters, but i tend to do a half ounce of nug every 1 and 1/3rd stick of butter

Stoned longer doesn't necessarily mean higher. the duration of the intoxication could be a result of the process. since food is digested slowly it could be that cannabinoids are slowly released into your blood stream over time which i suppose could explain why it's not substantially more effective then smoking....

i've never made cannabutter but i've made honey oil and i put that into things.

nice ------ but dont forget to note the couchlock effects - perhaps it was just the strain, but i had never felt like i needed to remain seated more than when i ate cannabutter cookies.

side note:i prefer honey oil because it can go into almost anything whereas it's harder to add butter to things that don't call for butter. like hot chocolate.:mrgreen:
