Hey,
I was on here by another name but someone in my town started to sniff me out...

Ok, Growing bagseed. Sprouted the 14th of december.

1k watt is 3 feet away from the soil level.
Fan is on 24\7.

Soil temperature (under the light) is around 85F

Ambiant room temperature is around 70-75F

Soil PH: a little over 7 (analog probe meter)

Soil micture: Scotts Topsoil w\ Perlite mixed in.

Night temperature dont go below 70F but their is a draft that comes in and its cold in my state (New England)

Here are pictures of the largest grower along the way.

I watered once about a week ago and recently moved the 3 largest growers into 5 gal buckets.

Thanks in advance for any help. :)

First picture is setup:

Dec. 24th:

Dec. 27th:

Dec. 30th (same as Today, Jan 1st)

OMFG he's using a kilowatt light and you suggest he use a cfl with all those huge pots?

Anyway... Dude. Your big ass light is too far away from your big ass pots. It should be around 18" away from the seedlings. But then again you
should not be growing at all like you are.

And you should never start seedlings like this again in huge pots under a kw light that's insane. Watch some of these videos so you get a sense of what you're doing wrong:

someone recognized something I never thought of and asked me questions. I persueded them after a short heart attack and a bong packed with the finest headies around that It was coincidental. and i dont grow. :weed:

i have a 27w 5500k Can this supply my setup in the first picture?? I dont know anything about CFL.. Plus I am totally hit from buying a 1k watt..

Are they being light stressed??

Thanks again friend.

They werent growing So I thought it was the cheap topsoil I used so I just switched 3 plants to see if it does anything, And it didnt.

I know its a big ass light, A little too big maybe.

I had the lights closer but it seemed that they were turning yellow.

i think you need to bring the light up another foot or 2 and the ph is to high use acid to bring it down to about 6 or so, the cheap soil wont matter as long as you put some perilite in there and add some good nutes, i get some G.H flora series nutes, and flush the soil as soon as you do because you never know if the soil has a bunch of bad shit in it

Sounds good, I lifted the light another foot. How much damage have I done to the plants so far?

Thanks again :)

you should start your seeds in beer cups, or something similarly small. You could veg you plants in a two gallon pot for 8 weeks before it would be able to dominate a 5 gallon. you want your plants roots to be able to dominate the container they are in. extra dirt means wet dirt. wet feet make sick plants. big pots give your babies wet feet.
1000 watts of hps over seeds isn't for sure going to kill them.. but it is definitely the wrong light spectrum for your veg state. I think you will find that if these babies do make it, your nodes will be too far apart because the light spectrum you are using will not promote dense veg growth. nothing better than what you are using for flowering. but you should look into maybe getting one of those metal halide conversion bulbs that will be compatible with your ballast. another choice would be one of the more powerfull compact florescent lights (CFL) 150 or 200 watt.
in the future, try not to transplant seedlings

This is what I was expecting. (growth wise).

Yes, Scott's topsoil, Its the only thing around next to snow shovels right now. ;)

I dont know if I should scrap this project and start a new after I pick up a 150 watt MH and make a few adjustments and follow what Steadmanclan said or what.

Heres some plants right now.

Thanks again!! :)
