1Badmasonmans 3rd grow 1st journal BC seeds The Purps.

Hello my fellow RIUers. Been dabbling in the production of my own supply for awhile now. This will be my first ever journal.

This is going to be a long ongoing journal as I am starting over from scratch. I will be covering topics such as grow room construction, raising up a mother to clone from, and my cloning procedure.

As you will see in my pics im pretty good at building stuff, but im still a rookie at growin MJ. I have gained a ton of experience from RIU and thanks to all.

Please feel free to post in my journal, I enjoy the conversation and pointers. Please just keep it positive.

So heres the room and equipment details.

Room is 14 ft long by 7 ft wide by 6 ft tall.

Lights: 2 600 watt HPS/MH. And a 4 bulb T8 floro hood.

Ventalation: 190 cfm inline carbon scrubber for exhaust. 160 cfm intake can fan.

Growing style this round is goanna be a cross between an ebb&flow and dwc. In a sog or scrog. Havent decided yet.


A little backround, this is my 3rd grow from seed. I had a devastating bummer 6 weeks into flower on my 2nd grow where a pollen sac busted somewhere in the garden and heavily seeded all my plants. To anyone who follows DST's Club 600 you may have heard me ranting and venting. To make a long story short i made the decision to start over from scratch and do some upgrading on my grow room.

I got rid of all my plants and clones to a couple of buddies of mine to make room for the construction of my new and improved room. One thing i didn't have in my old space was an area to clone,veg, & keep my mother plants. I had the room basically divided with a tarp and it wasnt very effective at keeping out the light from the veg side. I was also having some heat issues that needed to be addressed because i had all my intake and exhaust in the flower area.

Step1 was to gut the room and remove all equipment and mylar. I was real worried that any left over pollen could infect future crops, so i did a real through cleaning.

Welcome to my man cave.

I built this room to try and make it appear as a plain old wall at the end of the basement. The door is actually just a framed out sectoin of the wall that slides out of the wall. When its closed its screwed shut. Cant ever be to careful.

Heres a look inside.




Just got done plywood sheathing the ceiling. My last grow i just had reflective insulation on up ther which didnt buffer the noise of all the equipment running from the upstairs very well. Not to mention the constant smell permiating the floor boards lol. This should be much more effective.





This is my new addition to the room, the clone/veg/mother room. As you can see ill be using The 4 bulb T8s in here. I use 2 warm white and 2 cool white bulbs. One thing i like about this light is the ability to put it right on top of the plants without burning them.



These 2 exhaust fans are from my first grow ever in a kitchen cabinet. I plan to used these to echange the air in the CVM room to exhaust to the flower room where the carbon scrubber will filter it out of the house.

I hung the lights using some heavy duty salt and pepper masons string line.


This is my diy light raising and lowering rig up that i stole from an urban grower video.




Once i got the light where i want it i use some vicegrips to hold it there. "The Brakes".


I built this space to fit the light hood with about 1" play all around.

And up top the exhaust all wired up and ready for action. This room is complete.

Moving on to the flower room.

And this is the exhaust ducting that i framed into the ceiling of the room. I also ran the exhaust ducting so its hidden very well outside of the room. I ran it so it will dump into my chimney stack and out the roof.

I had to cut my vertizontal hoods down so i could fit them side by side. They still throw the light just as good.


What up peeps. This is the only complaint i have about mylar.

I put my ballast's up high because im going from soil to a hydro set up. Better safe than sorry. I noticed the magnetic ballast runs alot hotter than the electronic, so i mounted it where the exhaust can help cool it.






My diy version of the ebb&flow. still under construction. I should be able to build this set up for under $150.00 vs $1500.00 from a hydro shop. My systen is gonna be diffrent in that i will be growing dwc style with aquarium pumps in each bucket. The nice part of integrating both methods of growing is the ease of changing feedings from the main reservoir. Also Ive read somwhere in the bubbleheads thread that letting the roots get an O2 air bath promotes faster growth. Which can be accomplished by draing all buckets into main res. I still got alot of work to do on this system. I will be updating the progress.

And last but not least heres my last 3 seeds of BC puprs. Im hoping to get atleast 1 female out of the 3 which i will be growing into a mom to take cuttings from.

Start of the veg cycle. Im not really keeping track of the age here because im going for a mom. They are however 2 weeks from seed here.


Right now im vegging under just one of the 600s with this bad ass bulb.




I had to reuse just a little of the soil from my last grow. As you can see ive got some seed that must have fell in the mix from the last heavily seeded grow.

Thanks MCP glad to have you here. Yeah my soil is shit right now. Im getting some new stuff in the morning. Ive read threads about recycling soil, but damn its hard to get all the roots out. Any ways gonna transplant to the finish pots with some good organic mix. Ive got the whole fox farms line to grow out the 3 purps in soil. Got a good line on some blueberry & northern lights clones from an old hippy pal of mine. Gonna see if i can work it out and maybe have a little variety. we shall c.

Sorry peeps im a few days late on the update. Been a buzy son of a biscuit the past few days. Anyway ive gotten a bunch of work done on the hydro sytem, all the plumbing done just got a couple leaks to fix and and it will be ready to grow.

Heres the progress enjoy


This is what we will be building the main resirvour out of. Just an old 55 gallon water drum.


Heres the main res with flood tap. This is one leak i need to fix today.


This is the mock up controller bucket. I think i may upgrade from a bucket here to a 10 gallon tuff hard plastic tote. This set up works just fine the way it is. But it has a few draw backs which ill explain in a minute.






Heres the sea of buckets. As you can see i have 15 5 gallon buckets in the flower garden. Now heres the draback with the 5 gallon controller and 55 gal capacity of the res. I will probably need about 4 & 1/2 gallons of nutes in each of the 15 buckets. So 67.5 gallons will be in the garden when filled to capacity. So I will either have to add a back up res to hold the extra 12.5 gallons. And that would mean the main res is dry. Which will not happen it will hold about a gallon at the bottom which cannot escape into the plumbing because of the hieght of the tap. Water always seeks the path of least resistance.

Moving on


Here is the main line which branches off to 3 lines which have 5 buckets on each.


Here is the plumbing connections on the right hand side of the garden. Notice the bungy cord. that is so when its time to drain back to the main res to switch nute diets or to flush the system, I can simply lift up on the cord to get all the lying water in the plumbing out.


First flood test. And i only got about 20 gallon in before i discovered 2 leaks. Not bad for over 60 plumbed connections. And both leaks are on the main res tap and the water level meter on the controller bucket. Pretty easy fix. Should have it water tight tonite and really put it to the test.

Overall even with only getting 20 gallons in the system. The self leveling of the water evenly distributed the 20 gallons between all 15 buckets. Im really excited to get this thing growing.


Heres the 3 purps at wk2 veg. coming along. Gonna get them in some larger pots later today. Im reusing my fox farms ocean forest soil from grow 2 which i dont like doing becaus the little bits of root are nearly impossible to get out. And as a result the soil doesnt drain as well as it should. It also holds old nutes and salts. I have been flushing the soil to be reused with hot water so hopefully it will get out the nute build up. Why dont i just go buy some new soil? Im poor, Im so poor i cant even pay attention Im so broke duck tape cant even fix me. lol. No seriously and ive got like a fucking truckload. The soil that is haha. will post updates soon peeps. As my dad used to say Keep your zipper up!. Laters

sweet setup up man. im sure this sytem is gonna produce quite a bit of dankums. and are you gonna get more plants or are u gonna veg the 3 out first and then clone off them. and i to also reuse soil cuz im a broke bitch all the time. i find that putting all the dirt rrots and all into a big tub of hot water works good. it seperates the heavy ftom yhe light, so all the roots go to the bottom with all the heavy mineraly shit and at top u got all your perlite and lighter dirt works well for me. cant wait to see all the buckets with some woman in them

I hear you my friend im really excited about this grow. Im trying to get some clones through some of my long time stoner buddies. Sounds like i got a real good possibility of getting some blueberry and northern lights clones. But if that fails gonna try ordering some new strains through the attitude. I left a post on the 600 kinda inquiring about them. Haven't checked over ther yet. But yeah i will be trying to get a mom out of the purp strain. I dont know the exact genetics of it but i did smoke the bud that the seeds came from and i was told its bc purps. So really its just bagseed but the bud had alot of purple in it.

OK been at it again all day and i am at the point of deciding which way to go on the net pots. Lowes my fav store ran out of bucket lids so i went to a local paint store and picked up 15 there. They dont match my lowes lids and they have a pull spout on them. I decided since i am so poor that i cant even afford a down payment on a free lunch, that i would diy my 4" soil pots into net pots. Huhh easier said than done. Which i have enough of to do. Fuck i spent atleast an hour drilling holes and cleaning off burrs. Im starting to think i may try and find something similar to a real net pot and retro fit, OR I can come up with the Bengy to get the deep dish dayton spoke drains from lowes. lol. I like these fucking pots but damn $8 fozoles a piece. Well heres the latest from the 1BMM cave.

LOL thought somone would appreciate the humor hahah. Yeah we have some high powered drinks on the job sites. Mostly red bull and gatorade. A couple of brickie buddies of mine have told me stories of working in europe and germany. I quess that would still be europe?. Anyways they tell me its perfectly legal and accepted to drink beer on the job while working. Thats freakin crazy. Got some new strains on the way update tommorow.

Whats good folks. Just got done ordering some seeds from the Attitude. I decided to get a couple variety packs from Green House Seeds selection. Heres what we got coming.




Needless to say its gonna be a long while before you get to see them growing in my sog garden. But hey ive got some clones coming and my purps are coming along so ill have some women in those buckets soon. Peace 1BMM

Well havent actually got them yet mcp. Just ordered them last night. Ill be keepin me fingures crossed. I did the guaranteed delivery option so i have a pretty good feeling about it. We shall see. Itsd to bad there aint a seed bank within the US.

oh ok well i hope the best for your seed delivery. and ya i know it suks not haven a seed bank here. but i pretty much have a seed bank abou 7 miles away. also i can get clones from about 4 different people, having a medical card really helps to get some conections. i would order from a site, but to parinoid, with my background and record i think they would send somone to get me if they found out

LOL i hear you there mcp. I had mr clean face "A square buddy of mine" order them on his card to hid address for the same reason. My record is quite lengthy. But ive been out of the long arms of the law now for about 3 years, so doing pretty good. I just have no life now lol.

smart man not havin them delivered to your house. and im still stuck in the fuckin system of the gov. and i feel ya on the havin no life, i feel the same way. once i finally decided to quite all the shit i was doin cuz all the trouble i was in it seemed like all my supposed freinds just split and kept on doin what we did. now im just a sqaure who keeps to my self most the time.
