18 on 4 off?

I'm a newbie and I'm starting with three strains of 7 dwarfs seeds. Through grow and veg is it okay to give em 18/6? Or can I give em 20/4?

I've never ran those strains but I do 20/4 light schedule with autos and I'm guessing you have fem auto seeds?

Yes indeed they are auto fem. I'm also growing in soil and it's an all organic mix of my own. I opted for coconut fibers as opposed to peat.

The strains are a white widow, an ak, and a maxi gom, of course all with ruderalis. I'll go ahead and try the 20/4 just to be on the safe side.

I've done 16/8, 18/6, 19/5, 20/4 ....hell if I know which is best, as they all seemed to work just fine

I want to get the best yield and highest quality possible out of these little dudes. But isn't that what we are all trying to achieve?

Tests have shown that the best light cycles for vegging most strains is either 20/4 or 24/0. 24/0 is easiest to maintain. All you have to do is make sure the light stays on. I use 20/4 so the bulb can rest a few hours a day.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Yeah big stee that makes sense to me as well. I don't have a whole lot of money since I'm a 100% disabled veteran. But I have a little to work with. Seeds and kit plus soil mutes and the little odds and ends is going to cost me a little under a grand. I have been primarily an outdoor gorilla grower, so hopefully the stuff I found cheap will do the trick. Thanks.
