18/6 cycle has to be on schedule???

If i'm out and say i put it out at 8pm and turn it back on at 3am is that cool or should i keep it pretty strict....
 
I highly suggest buying a timer... Not having to check your watch all day every day makes it worth the $10 it costs, its just not very practical. And yes they should be on a very strict schedule. If you don't they may not die but you end up with inferior product in the end
