18/6 big waist of time

I say if you have the time to waste it's better than if you don't have the $$$ to spend on the electric bill while running an HPS 24/7

24/0 is a waste of time. And is unnatural. 20/4 would probably be ok. I like 18/6 cause thats when the roots grow and suck up all those fat juicy nutes. Also with 24/0 plants are smaller.

18/6 here. I have found the plants like the 6 hours of dark and grow quite a bit during the dark period. Even on the auto-flowering varieties they seem to push for 20/4.

there was a study done i dont remember the link but it was posted on here some time ago. the scientifically speaking 20/4 was found to be the best light cycles for indoor growth i run veg room at that its great.

This is a topic that has come up many times here on the boards over the past few years. I have done many side by side studies myself same clones same mediums and when doing compariosn of 18-6 , 20-4, and 24 hours on everytime the 24 hours light has out grown and ended with higher yields in my runs everytime. I have done this maybe 10 times and the results always the same the 24 hour on light plants grow faster bigger and yield higher then the others with 20-4 sewcond and 18-6 having bigger leaves but slower growth and least yield. so based on my own study I always use 24 hours light until flower. Saves me time as the plants gfrow quicker so less days of light needed

i think ive seen that *study* but it seemed like it was kinda biased (if your talking of the same one i am) (i cant find the link it used to be favorited but i guess it got deleted) towards 20/4 from the get go.

Its a debate that has many sides but I finally had to just show myself what was working and for me the 24 hours on was what showed me personally best results but everyone will have a preference but all 24 hours on 20-4 and 18-6 will work to veg

How can You do 24/0 when its unnatural? We aren't in the northpole where theres day light on for 6 months at a time. Not forgetting the fact that cannabis cant even grow up there but still. I really dont think 24/0 is good, maybe with a hydro system but having to water soil every half a day when the plants are big cause the lights are on 24/7 would be a pain.

Mystic in a soil grow you dont use drip lines or timed watering? You still actually use a watering can? that would suck worst then growing in soil itsself. In a soil setup I like to spend the $25 and set it up to automatic water since I dont have time to do the old school hand watering... alot of what we do in life for food and growing isnt natural but nature doesnt always max out the potential natures availibility is used as best it can. If natures way was best we woukldnt fertilize our corn fields or give hormones to beef to get more meat. Nature is a baseline to use to refine and get the best results so sometimes more is good sometimes less is good but nature is just the starting point

Well your right about your points. I dont really have a defense to that so you got it. But all the talk about roots needing to grow during darker periods I guess will never be dispelled. Thats like rootbound, I stopped believing in it when I saw fdd's plants in those little pots that were bigger than plants in bigger pots. I guess it takes time to let things go.
