150w HPS - will it be enough?

4 ft by 2ft grow dresser.

i was wondering would a single 150w hps (one with the ballast built in) be enough for 2 plants. i only want them to be able to produce an oz or so for personal use, bubba kush & raw diesel.if not what will be the maximum i could produce with this.

blue: total height.(4ft)
red: total width(2ft and some)
yellow: desired height i'd like the plant to be from my 150w hps. (2ft if that)

question is it possible even with grow big nutes and all that ish.

yeah should be enough... or you can add like a couple of cfl's to boost it up. but you shouldn't have it more then 12" imo because i had a few 150 before switching and they dont give off alot of heat.

i'd go 250w with that setup. i dont know if 150 will pull that yield. there is a 150w hps growers club thread on here. you'll probably get a better answer out of there though.

as for the plant, if i can't get @ 2ft i was going to try for 1 maybe 1/2, just enough yield to try bubba and raw and enjoy for a bit.

if i can i can add some cfls if need be.

try 1 ft. because it all really matters on the temp in the room. i've seen people with 600 watts closer then a ft.

well they say the max grow space for a 150w is 2ft x 2ft (length x width). so looks like you're right on target there. if i were you, this may not be the best opinion since ive never grown with a single 150w hps, but i would stick with one plant, keep it under 2 feet, put it in at least a 3 gallon pot and top and LST it.

if you have a fan blowing on the bulb you can have the bulb inches away from the plants. i have a couple little 6 inch fans i got from wal mart for 6 bucks blowing on my 150w bulbs, keeps em nice and cool, my lights are almost touching my plants.

Cool stuff man, I'm in the area and have an old 150 watter I can part with cheap, and some good genetics.

yup yup... no light is bad light imo but depends on what you are doing it for personal medical or pushing. personally i would place some small cfls on lower areas for the buds. but remember spectrum 5k+ is mainly for vegging and 2700 and below is for flowering.

in that particular area it's kinda cold but i'm thinking/hoping the hps will put out some heat and keep it balanced.

adding some 5k+ lights along with the hps is supposed to help resin production.

oh yeah, that hps will keep that room warm...possibly too warm..

i was thinking about it, (just 1 plant) but damn dude, i'd like to try the raw diesel as well and not have to wait another (loll) 4 months for the whole process. maybe though, i could make a small pc grow box and test it that way i also got some c99. that i'd like to really try --whatcha think i can get off that one plant i were to just use the 150 on it?

well by cold i mean you may get goose bumps just sitting there for a minute or so- the opening in that closet door is actually the roof. xD
right through there and past the angled wood is my roof with snow and all that ish.

cfl bulbs r cheap as dirt you can go to home depot and buy a box of 6 for 20$ and some outlets to plug into maybe like 5-10$ each so it isnt that bad compare to these high intense growing.

yeah they may be cheap- but man after awhile the cost pumps up. loll.
i could probably get 4 23wat 100 wat eq pack, with 2 y adapters and put 1 on each side of the dresser.

shouldnt be i bought 68 watts cfl equiv to 300 watt for 15$ a piece then the reflector for like 15$ god i wish i had the link for the reflector but they are located at homedepot near the fixtures. they shouldnt be hard to find.

if u need help just ask a person that works there and ask for a 42watt cfl day light they shouldnt ask questions.

150w hps is definitely enough, i use about 170 watts of cfl and my bud came out great, i would suggest some side lighting though, you can get the 18 inch 15w t5 lamps look in my flower room thread in my signature if youre not sure what im talking about

by exspensive i mean grabbing enough to equal an amount needed (10k), but i suppose i could just grab a single 85wat for the same price and at that full spec.
but i know all the fixtures and what not, i got a single one with 3 y adapters for 17/18 dollars at homedepot, but i'm working on a small budget here.maybe i should just do 1 plant and just sell the others.
