150w HPS or 125w CFL

with that 20$ hps bulb you will also need a 20$ MH bulb and a 100-200$ ballast.. and if you must order off of the web then include an additional 30$ for shipping

It can cost you 200$ just to get a dual 400W hps/mh dual setup

Thats more then just the 20$ you speak about.. and yes i can say this.. because i am human and i have the right to say it

Umm no its a $20 150 hps with bulb ballast and everything you need for about $27 shipped, and you dont have to have MH for veg you could use the hps or cfls

and where do you get this hook up of a life time at?

here are the sources i am using for my information

http://www.htgsupply.com/growlights.asp?categoryID=1&subcategoryID=155&typeID=55

I am talking about a 400W HPS/MH dual system with both bulbs and ballast... this is about 200 bucks..... this is what it takes to grow a plant throughtout the whole life cycle

this is in comparison to a 27$ 105 Watt CFL - 500 Watt Incandescent Equivalent

and yes... cfls are better and cheaper and give more bang for the buck

and cfls arent cheaper and dont give you more bang for your buck, 105w = 105w, equivalent doesnt mean anything

HTG has the best priced for a hydroshop but there are cheaper alternatives :weed:

Wrong buds are less dense and scraggly from bad growers, its pretty common sense that cfls grow nice buds but they are not as efficient as hps and for $20 for 16000k lumens thats the best deal for growing period.:joint:

Dude.. your wrong.. but whatever.

Technically it's true that cfl's don't make fluffy buds if you use them right.

Still doesn't make em a better option now though.

so what is the difference between this 20$ HPS light and the 130$ HPS light & ballast on the HTG website?

EDIT: Which of the two is a prefered light?

One comes in a hood that looks like it's made to grow weed.

One doesn't.

Same thing. Same electronics. Same lumens. Same reliability.

I know, I questioned the cheap price too when I first came across them but there is no catch.

I'm using two of those now and they're grrrrreat!

Never will I regret buying them even if I switch to using 6 1000w later this year. Half a years worth of use will have more than paid for them and I can always veg with them.

Dude.. your wrong.. but whatever.
LOL what an educated response, i dont even know which part you are referring to, cfls grow nice buds that arent fluffy= true
$20 hps is cheaper and more efficient= true
You will need more watts of cfl to equal the same lumens as hps
Its a fact not my opinion so go educate yourself:roll:

I ordered the 20 dollar HPS...having trouble getting delivered to this part of the world...damn USPS... went shopping locally cos i couldnt wait... picked up a Philips Contempo Floodlight with a Son-T Plus bulb for less about 60 bucks your currency...no heat issues in my tent...which is 60cm x 50cm by about 3.5ft hi.. i just use Aquarium cooling fans they come with screw/clips that u can clip on shelves pots or wotever ... only had it in there maybe 3 days...and its making a huge difference over the 3 x 105 watt(actual) cfls in there with reflectors...seen ppl have huge success with Scrogging using a 150 w hps on ICmag.com hopefully i will get some nice results from my scrog :)....and for those ppl who say CFL cant grow dense buds...i suggest u go read SEEMOREBUDS' book on growing with CFLS...id say those buds were pretty dense...

You need to put a cord on it is all, they are normally hard wired for commercial applications.

You take a cord any 3 prong cord like a computer power cord or extension cord or whatever. You cut the end off that doesn't plug in the wall. You strip the insulation off that end of all three wires. You take those wires and connect to the three wires coming out the back of the light, black to black, white to white, ground to ground with three wire nuts....

That is all.

It's complete with everything including the bulb and ballast, just need cord. Wire nuts are nice too...

Do I need to solder the wires before joining them with the nuts?

Can someone post a link to a reflector that I can use with that light? btw I'm from europe and the plugs here are those 2 prong and the voltage is 230v so would that cause any problems?

lol, more bang for buck? doesnt make sense, cfls cost alot more than $27 and the results dont compare.

Does any know if that site (e-conolight.com) delivers to uk? i want to order myself 1 of them.

No they don't ship anywhere but in the U.S. unfortunately someone looked into that before on here.

For those that do need a reflector though there are many options, I prefer the simple route of getting a piece of 4" rigid furnace ducting at a home depot etc, they have a seam that comes right apart and bend it once in the middle and you have a batwing you can easily polish or paint white. That's like $5 or so, they may even cut it to length at some places.

Or there are cooltubes you can make from $10 candle chimneys at the big craft stores a couple clamps and some 4" flex duct. You will find pictures of the cooltube on post 152 of this thread, I think the rigid duct reflector is self explanatory, the two can be combined btw if you want to go crazy but that's too expensive I think.
