Does anyone know how much heat these all in one lights put out. Im talking bout the ones that have the ballast built into the reflector. I have a grow space of 18 x 24 Inches unlimited height. It is in a closet in a Room kept cool by a/c and I have fans blowing into the space . I now have 16 23 watt 100 watt equiv cfls and the temp is between 75 and 78 with this lighting setup. Which One of the all in ones should I use for 4 plants to keep My heat in the range i have now.

They will throw off quite a bit of heat. That is way too small of a grow area for those two lights anyway and WAY too small for 4 plant. I have a 40"x40"x72" tent and I can barely fit 4 plants in there.

You're looking at a single plant grow. Maybe if you keep them small, but probably just one would be better. I was going to say just run the 250w, but do you have any sort of ventilation or any intake to suck that cool AC air in?

Only way to know for sure is do a test run. Any pics?

Well, temperatures fluctuate between the different colour temperatures. 2700k(red spectrum) will produce more heat than a 6400k(blue spectrum) bulb. So the easiest way to keep the temperatures around the same sort of range, is the go with the 6400k bulb. But as Sonar has said, you'll need more space as it will be too confined. Unless you have some amazing exhaust system going on. But even then, the plants will out grow the space.

Thanks for the help guys. I am only planning to use one of the lights not both. I am growing on One end of the closet the rest of it is open space. The a/c unit is right outside the closet door and I can leave the door open with no problem. What do you think about a 250 hps with remote ballast with the ballast outside the closet. This is My first grow and Im doing autos. 60 day wonder

Yes you definitely want to keep the ballast outside the closet. I thought you said they were the all in one kind that attach to the hood?

Your correct I was asking about the all in one. Then I found the 150and the 250s with Remote ballast at htg supply for less than the all in ones. It comes complete with a reflector I think I can ghetto rig to air cool tor

"How much heat" is pretty subjective. You might get away with running a 250w if you keep the ballast outside the closet, but I can't recommend running HID lighting in an area that small without some sort of exhaust blowing the hot air out and sucking cool air in. I'm not a fan of keeping the door open. It pretty much makes your grow a full time job. You need to be there twice a day. Once to open the door when the lights come on and once to close the door before they go out. You really want to do that? Also, I imagine this is in your bedroom, so you are going to have to run your light cycle during the day because even a 150w is going to light up your room like the 4th of July. You can veg in your closet with some flouros or cfls if you want, but I say keep the closet for your cloths and invest in a tent. You can find them for around $100 on ebay.
