hi guys im really at a loss for words on whats going on with my auto purple kush. i have 10 years of soiless growing in promix peat and perilte type medium and this is my first dtw coco grow and these plants have out grown my 4x4x8 tent and are massive. i was told they would be maybe 75cm or 28 inches max but since they went into flower thay have exploded. im using the lucas heads formla 6ml of micro and 9ml of bloom using GH nutes with 30ml of calmag in a 100L res and also added AN big bud 30ml per 100l and 2 ml of superthrive. ph is 5.9 and currently feeding at 700ppm. res water temp is 20°c rh is 45% they were very short and bushy when they started to flower and have grown crazy since flower i feed 4 times a day and get about 20% run off per water im in week 3 day 5 of flower and i just dont understand why they grew so massive. i didnt do any topping but so minor lst training. im using a 600w mh light and do not understand why they grew so big for autos. first few pics are the day i noticed pistols and the reat are current pics it averaged 4cm of growth per day and havent stopped thay ate almost as tall as my basement ceiling which is 10ft has anyone seen this before

i forgot to mention my using cana coco with 40% hydroton pellet mix with 7 gal smart pots i honestly think its just crappy genetics but this is my first coco dtw grow and i have done alot of research on autos and everything i read said to not top them or scrog them and im really wishing i did now i got my seeds from i49seeds.com in canada but it doesnt say who the breeder is.

Looks good, If you are pulling heat out of the lighting fixtures, also thermally insulate its outsides so it radiates less into the room... I also hope that is insulated ducting you are using ...
nm seems you are merely recirculating... Can you take the legs off the table?

u have 1500cfm fan pulling through the light my temp at the top of the colas is about 78°f but im running out of room. my exhaust is vented out of the room but i praying the stretch has stopped because i can only move my light up a other 5 inches. my only other option is to cut 3 inches off of the base that holds my flood table. the ducting is. ot insulated but i live in Canada and its still very cool outside so the heat hasnt been an issue.

i could shorten the legs but i would have to move my waiste res which is only 40l the heat is re circulating but i have a frssh air intake and its still only 8°c where i live in canada so the room doesnt get warm. i really wish i would have done some netting or topping but all the info i researched on here said to not top or lst because of the short life cyxle and stress would cause it ro not flower to its full potential im thinking its just genetics but damn i was not prepared for it to grow 4 ft lol looks like its going tocbe a massive yield tho

I ran into a height problem myself this round...
I made a frame from some thin light wood strips and wove them through chicken wire to form sort of a screen, I just placed it on top of the plants and teased the tops apart so the whole frame was supported by the plants.
It spread out the flowers at the same height and gained me quite a bit of headroom, I can send you a video link if you are confused.

My plants are all pushing 5' this round and my table is about 1,5' off the ground too to fit the res.

I successfully topped and supercropped an auto for the first time this go that look similar in size. 6 ft max in my auto tents so when the lights couldn't go up any further I just said screw it and bent them while they were still in early preflower. They knuckled nicely and I'm no longer blasting the tops with light.

Even though it is rather late in this grow, do you think that you could implement some LST'ing? You should be able to help them grow more outwards and less upwards by bending their top growing bud sites over sideways. In a day or two, they will straighten back up and begin reaching for the light source again, and you just repeat and tie them downwards again. You don't need stakes or anything to do it, I just take plastic coated plant ties and tie the top growing tips downwards towards the base of the plant, using the plant's main stem as the object to tie the plants down to. I'm hearing of more and more people topping and FIM'ing autos as Swi SHa mentioned above...here I was thinking that was a huge no-no with autoflowering strains :O

How i decide if im going to top is they need to be "medium" to "large" by breeder since "small" will start to pre flower as soon as 14 days, if my plant has 4 to 5 nodes and is healthy by day 21 from sprout i will top at the 3rd or 4th even and they will still have 1 to 2 weeks to recover and start to flower. If not that far by 21 days or any sort of weird looks i will let be.

i thought the same thing and kust let them grow wild lol next time i will do some lst and maybe 1 top. i have bent them over gently so they are not getting nuked by my light.

Hmmmm on my next round of auto's perhaps I should give your method a shot, thank you Matty. :) .

Yeah I feel that LST'ing autos is a must or you'll end up with a christmas tree.

I feel like its a good "rule" for me so far. I only got into autos last year, but it has been successful on 3 seperate grows. I believe i found the "rule" if you wNt to call it that on growweedeasy. Probably the most incredible place for growing i found directed to day 1 growers to 30 year growers. Either way give it a go and you are sure to be rewarded.

ok so first problem i have come across in this grow. i think i have a mag deficiency but its only on a few buds on 1 plant the other 3 plants dont have these symptoms. being its a top feed dtw it makes it difficult to adjust the formula for 1 plant. what do you guys think??
canna coco medium
ph 5.8
ppm 1070
15% runoff
runoff ph 5.7
runoff ppm 850

Yes that site is an absolute life saver, and I feel that any and all growers should have that site bookmarked or at least have a mental note made of it. It's especially good for those times you need to confirm your gut instincts about a problem.

They have so much stuff available. I think the icing on the cake is it's not confusing and written very well. I mean im not dumb but not a rocket scientist either. I feel like it's written so that all levels of grower can understand and pics are always nice clear and actually dipecting what they are saying. I love them.

140 cm auto, but you have lower thirt of plant completly useless. I don't like tall plants, I like BIG plants.
This one from me is in 250-350g dry range based on my experiences.

ya the stretch was massive on this plant agreed there was alot of waisted energy. next time i will use some lst and topping to control the stretch. it was supposed to only be a 30 inch plant but really got away from me. all in all im happy with the grow. it was my first coco grow and first DTW im happy with it. last full week

i like to lollipop it helps keep the humidity down but obv this is a bit much but i find that the lower buds dont develop due to lack of light and it breeds mold with lack of air flow through the bottom of the plant.
