true yeah i have tried to make it clear that LED and HPS are two totally different animals, they both serve their purposes and suit different situations.

these girls are killing it, i had to take a branch off on of the girls in the blackstar 4x4 tent. My bad hope it doesn't stress the plant, i broke during watering today...probably a good 7-10grams on it once it drys....trichomes are 50/50 right now but no amber onces...

4x4 tent with 2 blackstar500's, (560 watts total, each blackstar500 actually draws 270-280watts)

011.jpg009.jpg003.jpg004.jpg002.jpg012.jpg016.jpg005.jpg

5x5 tent with grow bars...9 plants roughly 300 watts total!

021.jpg023.jpg028.jpg034.jpg022.jpg032.jpg033.jpg031.jpg026.jpg025.jpg030.jpg019.jpg035.jpg024.jpg036.jpg020.jpg

To sum it up the blackstars are 2-3 weeks ahead of the growbars. Primarily due to the heavy red ratio and that the blackstars are designed for budding. The growbars however are pulling their weight. As explained in the last post the benefit with the growbars is the coverage/efficiency. They are using 100 watts to cover a 15 sqft are with even intensity and great coverage. Traditional LED panels coverage are limited to their design dimensions most of the time. Meaning if the panel is 3x2 the coverage is 3x2 anything outside of that is supplemental lighting. That is why people should not try and replace HID lighting with LEDs, it doesn't make sense.

example: A 1000 watt light would cover a 5x5 area perfect, it would take 4 blackstar500's to cover a 5x5 and with that you are already at 1160watts total...so where is your power savings?

This model growbar I knew wasnt going to be the best for flowering but I was more interested in the coverage and how it would grow the plant. so far a success, i have 9 plants showing no signs of lack of light. These specific grow bars are designed with an even mix of 3500k and 5500k LED chips. On my next experiment I will be testing the same grow bars but with a heavier mix of red. I am working with manufacturer on mixing 2100k and 2700k into the grow bar. I believe this is the key and will be a major breakthrough in the LED game...

I just want to say I am guessing around 1.5 - 2 ounces per plant in either tent...

Remember in the 5x5 tent there is 9 plants and only about 300 watts! My guess is I will hit close to if not over 1g per watt under the grow bars. Hopefully the new grow bar with heavier reds will be able to get 2 grams per watt!

It looks like the 4 plants in the 4x4 tent under the blackstars will total closer to 2ounces each, maybe more....but I am also using 560 watts...

anyone know what the average yield is off of an 1000watt HPS light in a 5x5 area? I am going to have about 10 ounces possibly more off of the grow bars now, once I get the new flowering grow bars i am hoping to double the yield.

yeah 10-12 ounces for sure with a 1000hps light :) they work damn good :)

but what is average? is 10-12 ounces for a 5x5 tent and 1000watt light average?

im getting 10-12 most likely on this grow right here from what i am seeing, with the new bars hopefully 2 grams will get 20-24 ounces....= 2+grams per watt!

1000W in a 4x4, SOG, 30 plants = 2lb
mark my words i will get 2lbs in a 5x5 tent with only 200watts with the grow bars next time around once i dial in the spectrum's to a better flowering model...read my previous posts if you haven't been following this one.

Maybe the savings are in not having to run an air conditioner the way you would to cool a room running a 1000 watt light. In the winter I vent the air of my grow box into my living room keeps the room nice and warm no extra heating needed. All I have in there is a 600 watt HPS. During the summer I have a window air conditioner running to keep the room temp down causing my electric bill to sky rocket.

Whats the room temperature like when the LED's are on ? Do the LED's create much heat in the room ?

Hey solarguy,

Would you be able to tell us how much these growbars actually cost/how much the new revised models are going to cost?

I'm pretty interested in them after my HPS bulb pops... Really looking forward to the next grow with the new panels too :leaf:

I've been (quietly) following...and marking words now. :) 200watts - 2lbs goal = 4.54 g/watt LOL! Let's see it happen brother and I'll take 4 of those lights immediately!

The fire pots come in a many different types of colors and designs so there are number of choice for getting one to match the décor. That one you actually bought has a beautiful copper glaze which makes it a different work of art and just right for the person I have in mind.

How many weeks is it going to take to finish under your grow bars compared to the blackstars?
Are your girls under the blackstars going to finish up before their time or they on shedule with their strain and if so are you adding more time to finish up under the grow bars?
Like everyone who can see your running 300 watts in a 5x5 area with no coverage issues, that's impressive all on it's own.
