High @flat9 !

The substrate is a generic lightmix with perlite and different peat variants from the local growshop here. It's said to contain enough nutrition for 2 weeks.
So germination was done in a toplayer of cutting soil, then 2 weeks just watering, then normal fertilizer.
This is the fertilizer that i use:

Just 2 bottles of higly concentrated organic grow and bloom fertilizer, easy does it :bigjoint:

First off, hi from the Netherlands!! I read all my info off this forum I wanted to share my build with you guys:

2 x HLG-240H-C1050A
12x CBX3590 3500K
12x Aluminium heatsinks (105mm in diameter, height 60mm) rated for 40 watts

this fixture is awesome !!! @Growmau5 @robincnn @Greengenes707 this is almost exactly what im looking to build.thinking maybe 3 power supplies so i can run 4 cob per or even go bigger and run 5 cob per so it may be a 15 light build.dimmer on the center bar or central 5 lights so im not too hot in the center :)

Looking good Netherfly. Interesting to see the difference between the pots too. The plants in the square pots are a bit larger. In a slighlty larger pot but those air pots don't seem to be better, so far.
True, i noticed it too, the "airpots" don't seem to be benificial at the moment.

Just as I copied all of the technical plans from your video's, which got me back in to growing again btw muchos gracias! :mrgreen:

Filled in very nicely, I hope for you they transition fast and don't stretch a lot, looks great so far.

The plant right in front has whorled phyllotaxy (three leaves per node, it's trait a breed for), very beautiful specimen.

From the beginning of this grow i've wondered what was up with the one on the front right, thanks for filling that in @Sativied ! :grin:

After a quick search on the forums I see that this is something you actively search for in plants, i'm looking forward to seeing it flower!

This is also the only plant that excelled the other airpot inhabitants in growth, to about as big as the 2 in normal pots (the increased veg rate you talk about perhaps).

Now to get this F-ing control board for the far reds working....

This looks so good, @Netherfly and thank you people like @VANNELLE for helping others source parts frugally. Netherfly, can you tell us what's in that 'far red' parts pic exactly or at least what works for you once you finish adding those? I plan on building my first COB fixture 3x3 (9 COBs total running at 1050ma) with 6 of those far reds in-between.

Netherfly I just dig this design! I am planning a grow room and I was leaning toward COB. Could you answer a couple of brief questions concerning your build.

#1 Did you drill through the HS to wire the COB? It looks like it but just wanted to make sure. #2 How are these attached to the frame? Did you drill through the base of the HS for the bolt? If so, what size did you use for bolt and hole? #3 How are the COBs wired, could you provide a quick schematic sketch or so? Last, what size did you tap the HS for the screws (and what size screws?)The whole thing is nice!

My basement is 60 degrees F all year with only a minor 5 degree rise in summer. I think this would work perfectly for me.

Yes i drilled 2 holes on both sides of the COB for the +/- wires
I drilled and tapped M5 holes (20mm deep) on both sides of the HS base
The aluminium frame tubing is 20x20mm so i use a 60mm bolt + a wingnut on both sides to secure it

And as for the wiring, i'll tell you exactly what i did...
I went over to Growmau5's YT channel :cool:

I have to say, in a 60F basement you are going to have trouble keeping your plants warm enough
The room where my tent is situated is between 65F and 73F
@65F it's already a bit too cold especially when the lights are out (they warm the tent up a couple of degrees)

This setup works very nice in my situation, i don't have any extremes in temperature here.
In a hot climate i wouldn't run this setup passive i think.
But a basement with this constant, but relatively low temperature, i think is also not ideal.

I really like how your light covers the entire canopy. That's how my light will be. I'll have a smaller space but the light will cover every square foot. One cob for every square foot.

The leaves though... Make me nervous. I'd undress those ladies ;-). Beautiful work man. :-)

I think you will find that you can get the lights much closer to the plants without causing any problems and in fact, helping the plants to bud faster. I have a grow space with a very low overhead space so I have been forced to find that you can get CXB3590 COBs very close to the plants without any damage, as long as the temperatures are controlled.
