12'x9' Grow room - Lighting question

Hey guys,

I have a grow room that is 12'x9' and I am going to be using 4 aeroponics sites (7' long with 2x4" PVC pipes each site) with about 1.5 feet in between each site.

What I would like to know is should I use 2 x 1000w HPS (1 per 2 sites) or should I use 3x600w and put them in each isle (you need to picture the 4 sites side by side)

Thanks for your help!

You'll get less wattage with three, but You can get a more even coverage of your plants and get the lights a little closer with less heat. The closer the light is, the more light the plant can use for photosynthesis... damn that's a big word.lol. i.e. bigger, better, and hopefully more weight. I've got two different friends running 3 600hps now, but they both ran two 1,000 hps and they religiously tell me that 3 is the better choice. One does soil, and one does a aero- type setup if that helps. thats just my two cents, take it with a grain of salt. Good luck on the setup bro!

Ya, I was originally gonna go with 3 1000w but figured I'd have lots of problems with heat even with good ventilation. Then I thought having 4 600w would be better but I still think that would be a little overkill.

the 1000's are more light efficient than the 600's and will give you better canopy penetration so i guess i'd go that direction.

I agree, I'd go with the 2 1000 watt lights. 1000 watt is good for a 7x7 area so you'd be good for up to a 14x14, the 1000 watt is brighter so your yield would be better.

If you are worried about coverage get a light mover.

600w lights are more efficient. they use less power per lumen. using 600's you can get them closer to your plants = uses more of the lumens... i know theres a comparison out there somewhere like a 600w light 8" from your plants is the same as a 1000w 20" from your plants or some shit like that. thought it was interesting. I myself am going to run 4-5 600w lights rather than 3 1000w lights.
