12v automotive hid kit

so i working on my car and started looking at my hids i have on my car which are 6000k. so my question is how well would they work for growing? they are only 50 for a pair of 2 35 watt 12volt ballasts and lights varying from 3000k to 300000k. i think that this would be a very good idea for my solar setup.

you think it would work

I had this same thought a couple of nights ago. I grow in a 4x4 Mylar progrow tent with 24 100 w cfl bulbs. I bet that the extreme blue hid headlights would work great for me in veg. PRob keep my streching down a lil. The amber color hid bulbs would be just as good for flowering I think. Either way it's intence light so why wouldn't it work? It has lots of benifits if it does work.

i know and for the intensity the low wattage and the price for two it seems like greatness compared to led and 1000w hids. bulbs are ten bucks a peice and trust me they are real bright. you could get 20 ballasts and bulbs for 400 bucks shipped.

you could run your whole setup off car batteries

you would still have to charge them though.
interesting concept
i wonder if the intensity is strong enough for plants.

yep i am already looking into getting a whole solar panel setup for my house. so i dont think thats gonna be a problem. im still wondering if it can actually work, cause i can get the hids cheap especially if i buy ten kits

if not i can get leds but this seems allot better

one thing i was wondering is how would i hook up a timer to a 12 volt system? do they make 12v timers.

it would take like 19 kits to equal a 1000w hid lumen output but you could put the bulbs accross the whole room in different location for better light penetration
