125w CFL distance from seedlings?

I have a hydrofarm 125 w cfl with hood. I am new to cfl's btw.
My plants are 5 days old have them at 8" from tops right now, just lowered it today. Before that had it at 10" then 12" to start.

I'm shooting for 6" in next 1-2 days. Is this about right? How close should I go? Trying to go easy with the light on these little guys, but damn the last few days they stretched like hell, had to transplant today to bury the long stems.

Any advice please?

Even if they are only 5-7 days old I could go that close(as long are my temps are in check). Will they be able to handle the light or whatever

Yes. That is mine. 2" away and now 2 days old

The plant will stretch a lot with cfls.. Because people think they are suppose to keep the lights far away. No.. The reason u see hps, hid etc lights so far away is because the heat. A good thumb of rule is to place the back of ur hand under the light and if it is good enough for u it is good enough for her

The further away ur cfl is the more she will stretch. Keep it close and tight
