Hows it going? This is my first grow and although it seems like a lot for a first time grower, I feel as though I can handle it. I have plenty of time, and the mental capacity to work through any problems.

I have only have one request/rule... This is a growing website, and it covers the technical issues associated with this hobby. On that note, I would like to keep this journal as intelligent and slang-free as possible. My biggest pet peeve about this site (and I am sure you older guys agree) are the people who post irrelevant and un-readable slang. I am a 23 year old engineering major, not an English major, so I am not asking for much(just something intelligent)...

Lets get to the good stuff...

Setup:
3 x 400 watt HPS/MH - 2 air cooled*
3 24" T5 H/O (Link)
4x4 tent
3x3 tent*
2 6" can fans*
Bubbler buckets
1 custom designed Black and Decker cabinet(Link)
2 x 20lbs CO2 and regulator
Hanna Meter HI9813 (Link)
*-being brought up this weekend

Nutrients:
Canna Aqua Line(Link)
(1) Aqua Vega A/B Liters
(1) Aqua Flores A/B Liters
(1) Canna Rhizotonic 250 ml
(1) Canna Cannazym 1 Liter
(1) Canna PK 13-14 250 ml
(1) Canna Boost 250 ml

Strains:
Group A(germed 2/7/09)
6 x LA Confidential
1 x White Widow
4 x Super Skunk
1 x unknown bagweed (2 weeks older than rest)

Group B(germed 2/24/09)
3 x Alaskan Ice
3 x Red Dragon
4 x Utopian Haze
1 x White Widow
1 x Super Silver Haze
1 x Neville's Haze #1
1 x Purple Lady
1 x Pure Power
1 x Hawaiian Snow
1 x Arjan's Strawberry Haze
1 x Arjan's Haze #1

The plan:
A "hobby room" is being used for the 2 tents, and the 2 tents will be used for vegging the initial 2 groups, and then they will be used solely for flowering. Once I get to that point I will build numerous more Veg/Clone/Mother cabinets(pictured below). I hope to keep a perpetual grow going.

For the initial veg cycle, 2 400watt MH lights are being used in the 4x4 tent and 1 is being used in the cabinet. After the first harvest, additional lights and such will be aquired and I will probably go for a flood and drain type setup.

The cabinet I built had a lot to do with me being a curious cat and wanting to have girls in my room to be able to work with whenever. With this group I have 3 different strains, with 3 different seedlings, and this is my test/fun group...so, I plan on LSTing one, topping one, and doing nothing special to the other one. All other conditions will be the same, other than the fact they are growing from beans and not clones, thus giving 3, while very similar, very different genetics from each strains(as seen in the LA Cons). Also the cabinet has an air-cooled 400 watt MH running in it, and will have 3 H/O 2' T5's hanging off the side of the MH light. Sort of like a reflection curtain of more light...it will add 6,000-8,000 more lumens on to the 400w.

**As of writing this, Utopian Haze #3 and Pure Power have sprouted from Group 2.

Foliar spraying was done until roots came through the net pods, and the same will be done with group 2.

I am looking very forward to the future, and hope to get to the point to where I can run numerous experiments and trials. I would also like to get into breeding at some point, but this is a good start for now.

Obervations:
My main observations, which I would like feedback on, is regarding the LA Confidentials. I know there are 2 different phenotypes, and I think I may have 3 of both!

Their initial seed leaves(codelyns sp?) were all different, and 2 or 3 of them had trouble ditching the seed once the sprouted. It was weird to say the least.

Also, the White Widow almost died when it was about 5 days from sprout. But it came back very strong. You may be able to see where it got over saturated from the hydroton pebbles and its hairs turned orange! But it is much better now, and looking VERY healthy! The WW, Skunk #1 and 2 of the LA Cons have absolutely been the best!

I am open to experimenting with a few of the guys in group 2, but I dont plan on buying anymore off the wall nutrients or anything with WOW advertising. The 2 guys at my hydro store are very upfront about the products, and will tell you when something is more of WOW advertising(Advanced Nutrients), that actual greatness. So let me know if you have any experimental ideas...

To be honest, I am not sure how often I will update the journal. Hopefully, I will upload pictures 2-3 times a week, and check the thread daily for any questions or comments!

Anyone with any knowledge on the possible different phenotypes among the LA Cons? My 2nd post with pictures displays it the best.
