12/12

Hey guys so I was thinking of cutting down on my electricity bill and was reading up on some forums on how to reduce that... in that I stumbled upon a comment stating to grow the plant from seed using only 12/12 of light... is this recommended?

Depending on you height limit , you could but would have to grow more plants. Or at the same time you could just go auto's.

!2/12 from seed is a very popular method of growing and has its pros and cons. You could also switch lighting to LED and drastically cut your electricity bill and still provide more light than 12/12

I wouldn't recommend autos to reduce electricity. They're generally run 18/6 from seed to harvest. They can be run 12/12 in flower but at the expense of yield.

A photosensitive 12/12 from seed will do ok. I'm finishing some now. They're small, about 20-30g per plant. But, I grew in 1/2-3/4 gal containers. Maybe they would have been larger in larger containers.

Yeah I had a plant in a small pot and noticed it wasn't really growing and the leaves started to curl at the tops and yellowing even tho I was following a strict feeding schedule. Turns out I has rootbound, as soon as I swapped her into a 5gal pot nothing could stop her from growing...

Can you not afford the light costs or are you paranoid over your light bill?

I find the cost of light is well worth the reward.

Well I can afford it but it wouldn't hurt to save some money. What does worry me I'd the heat I'm pumping out of the HPS. I'd hate to get busted for some dumb shit like that. I know 12/12 wouldn't do much but I was thinking of doing 12 on in the day time and 12 off at night. Idk why but I feel like they bust people like that at night time the most. I could be wrong. I might just do 18 on and just fuck it... only thing I already started with 24 on so I think switching it up will cause a lot of stress on them

I wouldn't worry about the stress at all going 24 to 18. I have done it countless times because when spring rolls around in have to cut back to 18 so the ac can keep up. And as long as you pay your bills on time I wouldn't worry about the power company.

I have this timer but I don't have the slightest clue how to use... I follow instructions but it doesn't comply with me...it says "push segment down for required on time... align present time to pointer" I follow what it says but I guess I'm doing it wrong... any help?

Make sure on the side the slider is at the right spot. One is on one is clock. Go plug a fan or something into it and spin it to ur on time and see if the fan comes on. Sometimes those cheap clocks that come with kits may not work.
