For flowering does it have to be 12/12 or could you put it in 11:30/11:30 or more or less if it gets the same amount of light and dark even if its not 12/12 like what if the earth rotated slower cuz some reason idk and there was only 20 hours a day???? just wondering

ook so you could just turn ur lights off/on ever 10 hours and it will still bud or like 14/14 would that work for bigger buds im just thinking

yea its 12 hours of light on, 12 off. It doesnt matter what time you start the cycle, it just has to be 12/12. I had my lights off during the hot parts of the day, to keep temps more stabile

The whole thing to do is use the standard 24 hour cycle that plants have adapted to, so you would want something like 12/12, 13/11, etc

I don't get why the 14/14 has even come to mind. You going to start getting up at weird times to what, plug in a light...2x12=24....2x14== pain in..

Hey Billybob. I beg to differ with these people. It sounds like they are just guessing and haven't tried anything like this! I think there's a good CHANCE it would not work, but I also think it's worth a try if you don't mind risking a good bit of your crop. In fact people often experiment to find different timing methods for these plants. Here's a thread where they are talking about doing cycles shorter than 24 hours in order to speed up the harvest: https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/62836-has-anyone-attempted-6-hr.html
So it certainly brings up the question if one could do the opposite and go with longer cycles to get bigger buds. I'd say at this point nothing's proven (except of course the proven method: 12/12)

So I dunno, if you don't mind a little risk it's certainly an interesting idea. If you decide to do it I'll watch your posting closely. Just make sure you get a special timer.
Happy growing dude!

There are many people who have tried different schedules and decided it was a total waste of effort. All kinds of time variations have been tried over the years. The results always come back the same. So, that is why I suggest 12/12.
