So I am planning to make my next grow a 12/12 from seed. I was just wondering would I be best just using 2700k lighting or should I put in a mix of the 6400k and 2700k?

I already have 2 125watt cfl's one red one blue.

So would I be better buying another 125watt red and just having them running or have a mix.

I'm thinking having 6400k will help them to get some size? or would it not increase overall yield?

Sounds great. Is there a reason your going with 12/12? Mostly 2700k works well for 12/12. So, 2x125w red 1x125w blue would work great.

The blue light spectrum 6500k incourages the growth of chlorophyll more rapidly than red lighting 2700k. The more chlorophyll you have the more leaf growth. 2700k light bulbs helps plants bud and flower. I personally haven't done a controlled experiment, when both these lights to give you an 100% answer. Gl

I wanted to go with 12/12 simply because I like the idea of it. If it can give a good yield like some people seem to be getting, by good I mean 1oz + per plant as I grow for myself so I don't need a massive yield.
Also It's quick and saves on power. From what I've seen it seems to cut yield in half, but it also cuts time in half.

I thought that might be the answer 2-1 red to blue or just red seems to be for the flowering stage in general, just wondered if anyone knew any different for a 12/12 plant. Will be another 4 weeks maybe until I start this grow, but it could give me a Christmas harvest.

I need more light in my room I know that much, right now it's only running 150watts and it's supposed to be at 250.

With 12/12 you are essentially doing a veg and bloom at the same time. OK, at first it is just a short veg, but they start putting out pistils at 4-5 weeks. So what I'd advise - and what I am doing - is both. You can't go wrong with both blue and red, and there is certainly no harm with lots of light. So combo them up. And you can do 2 blue and 1 red before they bloom, and 2 red and 1 blue after the pistils begin to show, that kind of thing.

i like to mix bulbs seems more natural light wise and seems to improve yeild but i only have a couple grows to go by so do what seems best to you

Seems like people are swaying more towards using both.

I'd like to be able to experiment with it, but I only have the one space.

Was thinking it could be good to have a 50/50 blue red mix for the first few weeks then switch it up to either full red or 2-1. Thinking about adding an extra light into my space so the could be my blue addition and use the main light for my reds.
