20yrs ago I used to buy Northern Lights from a guy in San Fernando Valley for $900/lb and then turn around and sell QP's for that much ! lol
No more selling for the last 15yrs. ! Just grow for my Mom and self.
I do miss having a Pit Bull. Oneday I'll get another.

Just DWC bag seed grow for my first one. I am veggin on CFLs (6500k and 2700k) at the moment.

you should be real happy with that 400 you can place real close to plants without burning..
Sweet. ya my grow area is like 44w x 44h x 25 deep. so I dont need something bigger I would think, 400w should do nice.
You guys think that it will make that big of difference then just running 2700k cfls at flower stage? 200 bucks is not a lot of money but if I dont have to spend it Id rather not. If all goes well and looking like it is, I rather spend it on some nice seeds of some good strains.

ther are alot of people that have real nice cfl grows on here.. personally its been along time since i flowered with cfl's and the quality of them lights have gotten way better..
tough call man, you will get more yeald for sure with the 400w.. but i like your thinking on getting sone good seeds..

Trust what Raggaerican and I are saying, get the 400w now and be done with it. Strains aint going anywhere.
I went from large 125W 2700K(2) and 6500K(2) CFL's to 250W Horti to my now 400W Horti
The benfit is I now have good ass veg and early bloom lights, but I'd went straight for the 400W the first time had I known.

I topped when they had their 4th and 5th nodes down to the 1st or 2nd.
Topping also slows down growth for a few days to adjust and redistribute hormones.
OMG.. I thought you just topped the top node?
Flo.. also another question my babies are about 5 inches tall 17 days old. how close to the net pots should the water be.. I still have it about bottom of net pot touching it.

LOL....you can top higher than I did if you want.
Grower preference.
As far as nodes = colas, remember:
1 = 2
2 = 4
3 = 6
4 = 8 and so on
That doesn't include the secondary+ branches/shoots that come off the main branches too.
Meaning, the tops of these side shoots can end up as more colas in your canopy.
Look at my grow for instance.
All 3 plants (Monkey's) are 4 main branches/colas but the off shoots of each main branch added more tops/colas to my canopy.
