Week 10 has completed, and chopping is commencing.

Yesterday, I took down the Blue Mystic. This plant had a single cola and 2 pairs of side branches with a single bud on each. It took a bit to trim, as there were pointy budlets within the bud; This is a great candidate for future 12/12 from seed, for a modest yield in a small pot. Worth noting is once the flush began, is manifested cal/mag defiencies in the leaves within 2 or 3 days.

This morning, I took down the Zombie Kush. the Zombie Kush is absolutely the frostiest plant I have grown. It tried to be big, and had about 5 sets of side branches, all with dense buds. It was also a breeze to wet trim, aside from cleaning the clippers often, and leaving fingers feeling like glue. I will be growing this strain again, although in a bigger format with some basic training and topping. Did I mention how dense the buds are?

I just finished taking down the squat Querkle. It had about 4 pairs of side branches, each with one or two buds on each. The standout trait is that the ripened bud has a mix of purple and green calyx's. The upper leaves faded to a nice dark purple as well. The overall color looks purple/pinkish/green. My fingers feel equally greasy and sticky after (wet) trimming. Interesting. I can't wait to try this.

I took some quick picks before the takedown, and will post in a bit.

Up next: The large-ish Girl Scout Cookies; the tall sativa Jack the Ripper; the Bubba Kush; and the squat indica looking Green Crack.

Beautiful plants! How tall is that blue Mystic?
Thanks - It was under 2 feet. Main stalk supercropped once early. Not a heavy yield, but pretty compact. It was the shape I was hoping to see.

(The pot is 8" in diameter)

Green Crack - Troubles in Paradise.

I took down the Green Crack, which seems to be the Indica based variety of the GC namesake.
It produced quite a bit, but - When I finished trimming the top bud, I noticed a pinkish/flesh colored material on the inside of most the the bud. The outside looks fine, but this must be a mold? Experienced advice welcome! The bud is headed to the compost pile, and I increased the circulation for the remaining plants from 2 oscillating and one stationary fan above and below, to include on on the plant itself. The rest of the buds look fine. It is hitting the upper 60's at night in the room. I was amazed at how nice the plant looked otherwise.
(Humidity has been 45% during the flush)

The last photo shows what initially caught my attention after trimming.

Awesome, I’m trying to grow small plants as well. Limited space so I can’t grow too tall.

The 'A' bud on the Girl Scout Cookies, Bubba Kush and Jack the Ripper are hanging. Work called. They changed my sched again (twice), and it turns out that I didn't need to get everything down by 3pm today. Grrrrr, but that is how it flowed. The Bubba Kush was a medium easy trim, as was the Zombie Kush. The GSC was the easiest trim ever, and I still have quite a bit of 'B' bud sites to trim left. The JtR was the first Sativa that I have trimmed. Slow going for the weight, but I hope to be rewarded after the dry/cure and I am able to sample it. It was the tallest plant, and had the fluffiest buds. It also had the 'single cola' with a couple of side branches in appearance.

I didn't see any other signs of Rot or Pink on any of the other buds. I think I am in the clear, but I will be breaking all tops into individual buds for the cure.

I was rushing today, and didn't take plant or untrimmed bud pics. Ce le vive. It is about 10 weeks since the seeds germinated. I think the experiment was worth it to obtain such a variety of strains to enjoy, even if only 2 strains looked properly like a single cola type plant. I am planning on growing GSC, Zombie/Bubba Kush, and Querkle in the future, and possibly Jack the Ripper if I really like the effect. Blue Mystic was the smallest plant and the lightest yielder. GSC was the heaviest yielder. Blue Mystic, and the tall Jack the Ripper looked like the typical 12/12 from seed single cola, despite the height of JTR. Honerable mention for Querkle for 12/12 plant structure. I liked doing the multiple varieties, and will consider doing this again in the future.

A drying method that I like to employ:
I hang either entire branches or individual buds on a line using wooden clothespins. On the clothespin, I write the weight of what it is holding up. With most bud, the dry weight is close to 1/5th of the wet weight. By following the weight of a few select buds, I can see how fast it is drying, and get it into a jar when it is about 60%-65% in the jar. If it is losing 3/4 of its weight in 2 days, I know it is too fast, and I should add humidity for the next set of buds. In this run, the take down was spread over a number of days, and I have confidence in not over/under drying.

Wrap up:

The plants were taken down over 2 weeks. Mostly the 'A' bud in the first week, and the 'B' bud was left for another week to mature. The buds were dried at about 65 degrees, with the air humidified to about 60%-65%. This worked until about the 4th or 5th day, when the humidifier decided to quit and the air dropped to 25%-30%.

The buds were jarred in 1/2 gallon jars, with a cigar humidity/temperature meter in each. They went into the jar ranging from 58% RH - 70%, and burped daily. (The 70% were removed from the jar daily as well.) After 4 weeks, the strains smoke fairly smooth.

Out of the 7 finished strains Jack the Ripper rose above the others in taste and feeling. Of the other sativa hybrids, I liked the Girl Scout Cookies. I still haven't tried the Green Crack yet, although I gifted a friend several grams, and he liked the GSC just behind JTR.

I like all of the indica indica/doms. It maybe a tie between the Bubba Kush and the Querkle for my fave. The frosty Zombie Kush has quite an edge too. I have to say I like the Blue Mystic too, so I ended up liking ALL of the strains, and am glad I tried to grow multiple strains as small plants.

The multiple strains yielded as much as the previous blueberry grow, and I should be have plenty of personal smoke/vape and Christmas gifts until the next harvest. I still have the Fresh Frozen in the freezer to convert to bubble hash. I lost about 3/8 OZ of the top bud from the GC due to the plant being too big big to put on a milk crate, and too small not to elevate. It shielded from the moving air as a result, and that top bud was the only problematic growth in the whole grow.

Summary:
Except for the Blue Mystic, I didn't achieve the mythical single cola small plant. I did gain the 7 different strains in jars to try, and I grew out my first sativa dominant plant. The yield was a little beyond the upper range I was hoping for. All in all a success. I will do this type of grow (12/12, small pot, multiple strains) again, but only when I have the time to devote to it.
