12/1 Veg Technique: Do I Need The 1 If I Blast FR Lighting Sometime During The Night?

So just like the title asks; Do I need to run my lights for the full hour if I was to add, let's say, some 730nm LEDs to the veg area when using the Gaslighting/12-5.5-1-5.5 light schedule? Or let's say I add a string of 10 watt halogen lights to get some FR/IR and have them turn on at night only. The plant is just converting PFr to PF when the light goes on overnight with the Gaslighting system, right? That shouldn't take more than an hour? Some people say it only takes a few minutes if you have 730nm, so could I have some kind of FR/IR source and turn it on for only 15 minutes sometimes during the dark period and still prevent the plants from flowering? I'm always looking to save a buck and I'd rather run 50 to 60 watts of halogens for 15 minutes than running 200+ watts of CFL/LEDs for that hour. So anyone of you spectrum fans out there have any opinions or knowledge, (even better ), about something like this? Thanxs.
