12,000 BTU Mini Split or 18,000 Btu mini split to cool 3 1100 watt lights.

Hi guys, I was curious if I should buy a 12k or an 18k btu mini split w/ heat pump for my veg room. The room is 9x10x10 and I'll be running hoods with 1000w bulbs turned up using super lumen ballasts. Additionally, I'd like to be able to leave the door open in my veg room so that I can keep the nute room cool or warm depending upon the season. The size of the not room is 10x20. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Since you're going to use 1 unit to cool both spaces, I'd go for the 18k BTU unit. For the additional $400 or so, you'll also have the ability to add another light or 2 down the road when you want a bigger garden. You know you're gonna... Good luck!

Also, there are mini-split systems available now that are pre-charged so you don't need to bring a HVAC tech to your spot. Look for the quick connect mini split AC units.

3000 Btu's for each 1000 watt air cooled hoods
4000 btu's for each 1000 watt open bulb

id go 18k btu just to make sure you got enough, if you want go bigger too . id rather have a ac turn on and off, then run constantly 24/7 putting all that stress on the compressor and stuff....
