So, myself and a friend decided to see what we could do with very little money and a whole lot of time. We wanted to do something that could provide medical marijuana to some patients at a low cost and others at NO cost, we wanted something that could teach them how to grow if they wanted to learn as well. I had a LOT of people telling me it couldn't be done and that there are too many problems and security would have to be Fort Knox style, bla bla bla, I just couldn't wrap my brain around why a project like this couldn't work and have set out to prove the na sayers wrong!

Basic concept is this, my partner and I provide patients with one plant, we teach the patient what we have done (medium prep, water schedule, nutrient mix, when and how to feed, when to harvest, how to harvest, ect) and how to grow based on my partners grow methods, we have patients help water and some hands on things and then have a harvest party at the end. We keep it to one plant, so that the patient doesn't have to reduce plant limits at home by much if they are growing at home and we wanted it to be a PERSONAL GROW for each patient and don't wish to provide wannabe dealers. Each patient shares their plant with a good karma compassion program that provides no cost meds to deserving patients and in the end walks away with 2-4oz based on yield. Pretty basic stuff, but for a state with a system of collective distribution we figured it was as close to "in the spirit of the law" as we can come to and from what I have found, seems to be something unusual for a 'Collective' storefront to offer. Please let me remain anonymous from a stand point of the name of the collective this is offered through as I didn't post this to promote the collective and for the obvious safety of our patients, if you know of the collective, cool, please keep it to yourself though and do not post it in this thread. PLEASE

I thought I would post up some progress from it and show off a bit and take a little pride in the fact that it is up and running, in spite of the limited budget and the potential problems that people predicted that never came to pass. Here is a little info on how we did it and what we are doing, I will post pics up as we go along and hope to document a little of the trials and tribulations.

The basics of the room, 16x16 framed and sealed, 12in intake fan for fresh air controlled by timer, 12in exhaust with a 150 can filter, 11 x 1k ballast mounted on room roof with 6in vented hood, MLC16 controller, water system is 55g drum with drip system. A/C was a big issue, we have a 1.5 ton split unit that was existing and re-vented/ducted to run for only the flow room, but this was not enough to cool a room with 11Kw and we added two 28K wall units for now to save cost (they were less than $190ea brand new! and run 220 so I figured with our budget they would work!), this was our biggest hold up as we were in the middle of a heat wave and had a landlord that doesn't like fixing broken a/c units, oh well at least he doesn't mind what we do there. I think one of the most interesting parts of this room is the floor, it is a raised floor that is slanted and water proofed and covered with a vinyl flooring running to a drain for waist. Most people don't notice at first just how much the floors are slanted but once pointed out people diffidently notice it.

Grow medium is a soilless mix of peat, perilite, vermiculite, and nutrient is a basic GH 3 part with a few variants that my partner has found helpful. Enjoy! I'll add a few more pics soon.

Lookin good man. Very cool idea you've got there.

Definitely a complete opposite perspective than the average "lets vote no on prop 19 so we can keep our strangle hold on the weed market!"

Very nice! I like the idea of one free plant. It makes alot of sense.

Like the old sayin goes....
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Show him how to fish, feed him for a lifetime!

Beautiful setup.
I'd do something similar if I had an extra $15K sitting around and could convince my lady friend to let me have $2,000 power bills :)

I've always said that if I were going to go big like this I'd probably use a commercial property. Lower power rates, and they usually have pretty nice AC systems. Floor space in this economy is super cheap also.

Ugh... The things I'd do with $500K, I'd be flipping millions by the end of the year from a completely legit shop and still providing free medicine to those in need. My brother is a cancer survivor, my Grandmother died from an immuno issue related to a recurrence of breast cancer, so all Cancer patients have a high priority for me personally right now. Nothing I would love to do more in my life than what you are doing now. I am envious.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks, the best part of my job is something like this:

Older lady walks in to the shop with a mask on and comes to me asking to spend $20, she tells me how she broke her FACE in an accident and the surgeon screwed up something and she was in terrible pain and the painkillers were not working so great. At this point we were slow and several other volunteers were in the room and I noticed as this lady is explaining her story the room starts to clear, I am almost in tears listening, what I didn't notice was everyone leaving was in tears trying to hold em back. Long story short, I put together a nice package of things including a topical ointment with cannabis in it and gave her the package. When she tried to pay I refused to accept any donation and I was actually hoping she would leave soon cause I was not holding back tears for long and when she realized I was not going to let her leave her $20 she started tearing up and it was all over... While it was a humbling experience and one I will never forget, it was nothing compared to the joy I experienced when she came back and told me how well it worked and how thankful she was to have found it...

Tearing up right now thinking about it, that my friend is an experience that money will NEVER provide!

How exactly is your floor built?
I've been thinking about drilling holes in the ground so the plants can be closer to the ground and the waste get drained down but idk if it would back up.

The system you are using seems perfect for what I was looking for.

Nice Grow, subbed.

Its so nice to hear there are people out there really trying to help with their mediicine. I wish that one day I could be open about helping people as you are. I too try to help people only with illness. I currenty have two cancer patients and another two that want to talk to me after halloween. I am only looking for people than NEED this medicine. I have soo many friends that would pay top dollar for prime herb but Id rather give it away to people that truely need it before them. Its soo messed up that my state wont even consider the fact that it helps people. I dont care! I will help people even if it means breaking the law! When/if my state becomes legal, I will be ready with my patients!
