110 Degrees on Patio; Will this work? Dwg & Pix

This girl (a Goo) has been through the extremes of weather in her short 37-day life. She’s been outside for 29 of them. She started in a 3-day thunderstorm, lived through cold and rainy days on end, 5 or 6 lightning storms and now high heat. The temp in the patio was 110 yesterday (actual shade temp. 90). So I guess it’ll rise about 20 more than shade temp. being in the glare, corner, etc. We stay in the triple digits for many weeks at a time, so this is going to be interesting.

What I’m thinking is putting her, in her pot, in a big container. Maybe taking a 30-gallon container and filling it about 18” with dirt. Stick the pot on top of the dirt and fill in dirt all around it. Maybe plant some smelly flowers around the perimeter even. I realize the top of goo’s pot is going to be about 2 feet deep from the top, so I would cut out a big open window in it. That way she can be turned away from direct sun when the patio reaches 130+. Its pot will be enclosed in damp dirt and the window could even have a black sheet placed over it during flower sleep. (See attach. 1) She’s just 10 inches tall and I’ve never heard of the Goo strain before someone gave me some with two seeds in it.

Will that keep the roots from frying? Any problems with this design? I want to be able to turn her away from the sun is the main point. I’ll have high plants up against the fence to help with glare. Damn it’s hot out there, 112 now and this is June. Yikes.

She droops down as soon as the full sun leaves the patio. She looks like a closed umbrella. See diagram of bucket and pix. All comments and ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

well dude i dunno, thats weird it droops .... what kind of neutrients are you using and how many times per week do you put them in, do you use what is said on the label??? it looks like it isnt getting enough or the proper ones... mabey your not watering it enough... the stems should be able to hold its leaves up. what ive heard the most sun the better, i can understand if they were small and got to much sun that they would go yellow or droop but at that big that is kind of unusual, the leafs are healthy but the stems are not very strong. if your nutes are good and proper. try to pack down your soil a bit so the sun wont get into it and make it really hot, after a good long day of lots of sun this is known to happen, especially with moist soil it will happen even more, water everynight and pack down the soil, not to much to damage roots but so the top is nice and firm

Thanks kron for the advice. Here's a pic of her at 7:10 PM and it's 110 again. This is something she does at night when it gets dark (that droopy pic was 8:47). She's done it no matter what temp, how much rain she's endured, she's been in 40 mph wind, downpours, etc. She's done it since she went out there. Some kind of protection thing, cuz she perks right up with the light.

She gets Schultz 10-15-10 as she gets dry, every water. Here's a closeup of the stem. I think it's big enough for those leaves. I had to trim her side fans about 3 weeks ago cuz they grew to the dirt.

I want to put her in a barrel to keep her roots from frying when it gets hot in July/Aug. Think it would work?

it looks healthy..... the 10-15-10 isnt too good though.... for veg stage you should be using a lower phospherous than the other two. once it starts flowering you use 1-35-27. kind of looks like lack of water? hmmm someone else more experienced got any ideas?!?!

as for the barrel.. it shouldnt be needed. the soil kind of needs the sun to dry it out a bit to prevent fungus so the barrel might cause fungus and desease

Thanks again (if you ever read this :) I give her a little bloodmeal (12-0-0) about every 10 days in addition to the Schultz. I'm going to use the Super Bloom (12-55-6) when she starts flowering. I'd read that roots will fry in high heat and to protect them, but you're right. If roots fried on MJ than all my pansies, etc. would have fried roots out there. The roots need to dry. I'm going to transplant her again to a larger pot, but I don't want her to get too big because I'll be carrying her in and outside during flower. Cheers.
