Hi all. Love the forums and discussions. I have a question regarding my setup, and i'll probably keep posting as I move along setting it up from beginning to end, so i guess this will inadvertently become my grow journal as time goes on.

Here's my #1 question: I have mylar set up in the room. should i go with 1 1000W or 2 600W HPS? I have 2 magnum 8 hoods and I plan on setting up ducting this weekend.

I gotta leave work right now so i'll be back with more info.

Honestly I would suggest 2 600's unless you want to set up a light mover for your 1000w. Just my personal opinion.

agreed. much more light for only 200w more, 2x600's will cover more area as well if you want to expand your grow room

thanks guys. i really appreciate the feedback and i love how the community is coming together.

here's another question. will adding another 1000W light make a big difference? because i have another one set up in there but i'm not using it because i'm scared of the heat issue. I'm also a little worried about the electric bill. i'm in LA county and the city i'm in has its own electric company.

i'll post some pictures up later, and maybe i'll add a diagram of my setup so you can have a better idea of what i'm talking about.

I have so much room to grow and I'm not utilizing it completely. I actually have a whole apartment to grow and I'm not using it correctly. I'm letting light in, ventilation is really bad, and heat was an issue. Kinda stupid on my part. Here is my new plan. Feedback is greatly appreciated.

12x18 room with 2 4x4 trays
2 1000w Magnum 8" reflective hoods
I plan on adding a fan to exhaust the reflectors this week
a 14000 BTU portable AC unit
and CO2 burner that I will be turning on for a couple of hours a day (which is another question I have: when is it most crucial
for plants to get CO2?)

Question:
i top from 3 weeks old vegged plants and make the tops into clones
Then, I would wait until those clones are transplanted and repeat the cutting/cloning process
I have been suffering from heat issues and occasional poor ventilation.
Will my plants get worse as time goes on? I'm starting to notice that my new plants in veg are growing taller but the side branches are not growing outwards. They're kinda small to tell the truth. Imagine a stick with a few gimpy arms.
Am I screwing up the genetics of my plants?

Once I get all these things in order, I'm going to start logging it in a grow journal and begin paying more attention. So thanks for helping!
