Most are concerned for their plants with a heat wave like we are having. Over 100 for roughly a week. For me I see an opportunity for pest management.

The biggest issue people have with managing their outdoor plants are bugs. They come fast if your not careful. With many large plants it is also a massive uptaking. The #1 reason people don't manage their pests is fear of bud rot due to moisture getting in the buds.

I use these weeks where it is stupid hot to do my BT spray.

I have an attachment to the hose that dispenses any liquid you add to it. I set it to 8oz per gallon and spray away. I can spray the entire plant in about 2 minutes including underneath.

This simply leaves zero opportunity to allow the buds to lock in any moisture. They sit for the rest of the day drying out.

I am not sitting there with a bottle and pulling a trigger 1000000 times while fighting with the bottle to spray upside down. Fuck that shit.

Btw I have never run into an issue with this. That's not to say I have not experienced rot however I have never lost more than a couple of grams through my grows.

Sprayed mine last night and they were dry this morning. I just use a 1 gal garden sprayer but I like what your using. May have to check into one of those hose attachments. I’m in the HOT too and my in ground plants are thriving. Watering twice a day through this week.

I just came in from spraying the whole greenhouse. Fkn pouring now. Almost had to swim back lol
Our days in the northeast have been in the 80’s.. greenhouse gets up to 120F lately.. which is a decline from a few weeks ago. I love how the plants look back at the sun like “is that all you got?” :weed:

But if they are wet can’t the drops act as a magnifier and burn the plants? Lol

Spinosad should probably be stopped about a week before harvest. I wash my plants in an H2o2 solution right after harvest.

So you are talking about weed. An H2O2 wash isn't gonna get rid of it. It will get a little off, but no thanks man. There's a reason they test for it in most states at the dispensaries.
The reason they test commercial cannabis growers in those handful of states is because it kills honey bees. That’s why it’s illegal in some states. Washes off clean.
Your a pain in the ass. Got no use for ya. Ignore on!

I wouldn't want to smoke spinosad personally.
Agreed. I contacted the manufacturer and asked about using in late flower. Really helpful folks, I think they're in central PA, and they got a kick out of the fact that I was using it for cannabis. Spinosad is designed to be used on fruits within a few days of harvest and they said that it can be removed by washing.

Unfortunately, I"ve had to use Spinosad twice, for thrips. First time was really late flower, second time mid-flower (I've learned my lesson!). Each time, I drenched both plants with Spinosad (two plants in a 2'x 4' tent) and the only thing I needed to do was wash the buds as part of the harvest process. I used three buckets - baking soda, lemon juice, and rinse.

The bud wash was more work but, after it was done, I think it was a good move because the harvest was clean and because it got everything to an even hydration level.

I thought it was a few days before - could well have been a week. The instructions are on the bottle and I had a chance to call their tech support and they were really helpful.

After two thrips attacks, if I have a grow that's going to be harvested in June later, I'll spray with Spinosad prophylactically in accordance to the directions. When I had to use it the first time, I did a pretty thorough search, including PubMed IIRC, and came up with only one article and that was regarding smoking.

[time passes]

It seems that don't have the PFD handy but here's a link if anyone's interested.

Thanks for linking the article @Delps8. I hadn’t seen that one yet.
