Ok guys, I posted one earlier about an electrical issue and I have found what I think is my problem...kinda. I am having a problem getting my 1000w ballasts to run in my new house. They are switchable 110/220 1000w metal halide/high pressure sodium. I ran 20 of these suckers in CA on 220v for about a year with no problem. Now, I am trying to run just two of them on 110v and they will run for about 5 min then the bulb (HPS) will turn red (the inside part) and stop glowing. The light will actually stop, without fail, and the "inside part" will start glowing red, kinda like a heat lamp. If I leave it on for a little longer after that, it will blow the bulb. Before you say it is the breaker, I've already had someone out to check and they said all the plugs were fine. I've tried numerous ballasts and lamps of mine and they all do the same thing...
Could the ballast have somehow adjusted to running on 220v and only work off of that?? My next plan is to run a 220v line with a dedicated breaker just for them and hopefully it will solve the problem... Please help, any input will be greatly appreciated!!
I've added some pics for your amusement... One of them actually shows the rating of my ballasts.
The Ballasts and the lamps are Maverick Sun, and like I said they're only about a year or so old...
