1000w+ LED newbie grow setup

I have a 6" x 42" closet set up for autoflower grow. Started first seeds mid Oct. under a 600 watt grow lamp panel (e-bay ledgrowlightmanufacturer). I was concerned because the seedlings seem to be stretching too much, but they turned out ok. But i ordered a 45 watt blue panel anyway to help future seedlings along as well as supplemental lighting. http://www.yescomusa.com/45w_LED_Grow_Light_Indoor_Growing_225_Ultrathin_Blue.html
Today I added a 400w panel. It is a MARSII panel from e-bay also. Slightly less than $600 in lights all told.
A word on my opinion on the LED panels that I have. The 600w panel is definitely doing what i wanted. All the grow in the pics are from the 600 watt panel as i just added the 400 watt today and the blue panel has only been in play for about week and last half of that is was sitting over the new babies.

  • Spectrum of Light: 430~440nm, 450~475nm 620~630nm, 650~660nm, and white
  • Real IR spectrum: 730nm
  • LED Output Power: 200pcs*3watt

The second panel is the 45w blue panel. I am not sure how this is working yet. The two seedlings it is sitting over just popped yesterday. This panel as well as the new 400w panel both have 5 watt leds vs. the 3 watt leds in the 600w. The 45w panel is just leds on an etched board. It is very light and has no fans. It doesn't generate much heat and doesn't seem to need fans. The site listed has it at $69+ dollars, and I am thinking of ordering another one or two of different spectrum (all red or red/white combo) for more supplemental lighting. I like the light weight and lack of fan. Easy to hang. BTW, my cheap little light meter was about 1200 lumens @ about 6 inches (if i recall distance correctly). Both of the other two panels pegged it. It maxes at 2000 lumens.

The newest panel is the 400 watt i added today. When i plugged it in, It seems to me it was brighter than the 600w panel. This panel also has the 5 watt leds, covers 430~440nm, 450~475nm 620~630nm, 650~670nm, and white, Real IR spectrum: 730nm per the advertised specs.
So, theoretically I have 1045 watts of juice. My thoughts are for anyone looking to purchase is to look for panels with the 5 watt leds instead of the 3 watts, but, look at where i am with the grow pics and remember that was done under the 600w panel with the 3 watt leds.

W ratings by LED manufacturer's are ingenious at best. They rate them at virtually unobtainable wattages.

Get a Kill a Watt, I bet you are putting out about 350w's total +- 100 watts.

None of that necessarily matters, I would worry more about what intensity is being put out as actual light vs. heat. aka Par w/ spectra

Kool setup, looks like you will be happy for daze!

Can I ask you, when you loaded the pot with soil did you saturate all the soil in water and then plant or is all the soil been dry and you just water to wet the first like 3-5 inches?

Also what soil is it?

I use an organic soil that has a pretty good portion of sphagnum in it from HD. Messed around and settled on a mix that is ~60/40 soil/perlite. Using 5 gal root bags. I think they may be a little to large for autoflowers. Will see after they get done. I soak them good, and plop the seed in. I wet the top after a couple of days. In the pics, the two bags to the far left have just popped surface yesterday. The blue led panel is above them. Kandy Kush & Diesel Berry.
I also have a Candy Kush and Diesel Berry in week 3. I could smell them yesterday. pics 1 & 4
I have a Delicious Seeds La Musa about a week old. pic 3
The big bushy one is a bag seed. pic 2. I am amazed at how short & bushy it is. It was started a few days before the autoflowers. It was planted with another one that has been outside for a week. It is really stretched out. They are for me to practice supertopping and LST with.

The duct hanging in the pic goes to a 6" blower in the closet in the adjacent room. Partially vented outside. I will put the filter on in the next day or two. I run the lights 19/5.

These are from the same bag. They were together under the led for a couple of weeks then one went out side. I topped it a couple of days ago cause it was so stretched out. The one on the right I supercropped and cut it with my nail. I had to band-aid it with a piece of plastic for a couple of days. It is fine :).

updated pics. I guess the lights have been too close. These are at about 4 weeks. Plants are short and bushy. The girls don't like nutes. I have twice fed at 1/2 strength and had to flush both times. Lowered the plants 6" and will raise the lights soon. Didn't mark good at the start and I am not sure which is the Diesel Berry / Candy Kush, but I have one of each at 10 days, as they veg I should be able to identify these.

next is the bag seed. It is really bushy, has several long branches. Topped a couple of days ago.

I have a couple more bag seeds in the dirt (little pot), and am going to start another Diesel Berry and Candy Kush today or tomorrow. I also ordered some more seeds from Attitude seeds yesterday.

Do you really need that much light for 3 little girls? I'm using 660 watts to cover a 4'x6' area with 18 3g. bags. I veg to 12" and each plant is doing an ounce or more. I would move away from auto's and veg longer if you are planning on only 3 to 5 plants. You should be able to veg 8 to 10 plants 12" to 16", then flip to 12-12 with that much light. Not trying to be an ass, but the plant can only use so much light, the rest is wasted money.

Starting kinda slow. There are the 3 girls in last post, plus 1 La Musa, 1 more each diesel berry and Candy kush, plus one more of each fixin to be planted. Plus 2 more bag seeds in the dirt and more seeds on order. I bid my lights on ebay before I started, and there is not much published with LED grows, so I was guessing what the output of these lights would be. Very happy considering i have less than $600 in lights. I am considering buying a red LED panel or two like the blue I have to help flowering. The room is staying less than 80 degrees with only fans and a blower venting air out.
I like the autos because one light schedule for plants regardless of stage of growth, plus quick turn around time. I have another bedroom that i want to convert the whole room to another setup and will go regular plants when that is ready, this closet will stay for autos, & germing.
Thanks for the input, and didn't think you were being an ass. New at this and looking for other growers input!
