1000W HPS - How many plants per light?

This line presents the limit of the room that is available for the plants (12,3 x 6,2 feet = 3,74 x 1.9 meters)

I installed an extractor fan that is going to be ventilating the room. It is able to move 800 cubic meters of air per hour at 100 pascals = 470 cubic feet per minute at 0,4 water column. I also installed a regulator to the ventilation that gives me an opportunity to switch between 5 speed levels. I also installed a noise reducer, which is quite big, but it makes the ventilation almost silent. If I go next to the door, then I can hear the wind blowing though :) awesome stuff.

You're so concerned about light but yet you waste it. make a room with mylar or at least paint the walls white. Damn I would love your rig you put a little bit of money into it now finish it proper.

I would just grow the 8 plants you have there already. any more without some sort of walls to reflect the light and they will not be under the footprint anymore and they will suffer. Use your iphone and get the app to test lumens it's not accurate but it gives a good idea where the footprint is.

Very nice and neat your on your way to having a nice rig.

Yeah, I agree with Popcorn900, even I'm using mylar (diamond mylar to be precise) and I 'm a total newbie... not trying to be harsh or anything but look at how much light is being wasted.

absolutely agree, you can build some panels quite cheap, get that reflectix insulation board and stuff it around. don't even have to build a closed setup. 4'x8' sheet is like 12$... and they sell it at (s)lowe's.

Don't worry, my grow hasn't really started yet. Mylar is on the list of things that I will need to order. Mylar will come from the same place where I will order my RO water system.. along with some other stuff that I don't have locally.

If it's coming from the same place, then I'd like to get all things with one go. It's basically all behind the nutes now. Haven't figured out which brand I want yet. I have Canna products locally which should be a very good brand, but I want to be very sure about which brand name am I going to go for.

The order will be placed within next 48 hours :)

Seeds will be started in less than 12 hours.

Nutes is a big thing with some people but I like to keep it simple. I don't believe in giving the plants all sorts of shit. I myself use AN's jungle juice g,m,b(non ph perfect) and Jakes nutrients g,m,b.
I also use peroxide every now and then but thats really the extent of it.
I'll be watching your grow as I love your rig and I predict great plants from you.

cheapo Walmart rooting powder and thence into moist vermiculite; no heat, no dome ...roots in less than 10 days
No shit really ? You've put clones in just straight vermiculite and that works ? Maybe I'll try that sometime. I can't clone worth a fuck and never had any luck with rapid rooters, rockwool cubes, straight soil cloning dome, nuthin. They never root for me, maybe I'll try that.

Anway, looking good there Helmut, continue on your journey into maddness...JK bro, why don't you paint them walls flat white and get your light maximized.? You got a nice gig coming together there, I woulda thought you woulda done that first off. Dark colors pull heat and light into them.

Saw a diy clone tray in the diy section you should try, dude took a ice tray from walmart that has the deep narrow cubes that fit into water bottles, drilled a hole in the bottom of each space, filled it with vermiculite and put a dome over it, to water he just set the tray in a pan of water n let it wick up, pretty slick idea

I kinda like that idea if they'll root in the Vermiculite. Shit I have some of that sittin around doing nuthin anyway.

That is diamond mylar to be precise as it distributes light evenly and therefore creates no hotspots

.. and I will quickly need to educate myself about the subject of topping and training to apply these techniques to the present plants. They grow fast.
Get on You Tube for each new step that you are about to embark on, there you will find very helpful and informative tutorals on canabis growing set up, etc.

RUI and You Tube, that's what guided me through my first grows.

Keep us informed every step of the way.

Bro, we all read tons of bullshit on the net and even myself as a AVID hydro/gardener for the last 40+ years fall for the internet bullshit sometimes....
I kept failing also, esp reading shit from weed growers as opposed to REAL gardeners/horticulturist...

trust me here: I've tried all manner of cloning methods, I'd list the age of the doner plant as being almost important as anything else, and I'd rank vermiculite as equal or superior to rockwool for simplicity ...it works; try it (use a f'ckn SHARP blade, keep the ends wet, and dip em in chlorinated water; 2 drop bleach per gal)

OP forgive the thread deviation, hope it helps you also

I would just grow the 8 plants you have there already.
This will be the easiest route Helmut.

All you would need to do to get a relatively level canopy from these is to to LST/Train/Bend the branches (You Tube).

The other way means growing plants waiting till you can get some good quality cuttings for clones (up to 8 weeks) then waiting for the clones to root (up to 21 days) then growing time on top.

Just some things for you to factor in.

You are trying to put as many seed plants as possible under 1 1000 watt but are going to put only 6 clones under each one? The clones won't get nearly as big as the seed plants and are all ready mature, this is where you would want to do your scrog. If you let them veg for 2 weeks then pull your clones, you will have enough time to root and veg for 2-3 weeks before flip. In 2 weeks should easily find 2-4 cuttings per plant if not more. Or put all 12 clones under 1 light (easily done because they won't be that big by time you cut, they root, start growing again)then put another 9 seed plants under the 2 light. This gets you the best of both worlds without effecting your yields or quality in my opinion. As mentioned before, your idea works good with clones and in 2 weeks you'll be able to take what you want.

Also, with running different strains and worrying about the canopy, I'd have lots of risers handy to help even it out even with topping and lst.

Here's a liberty haze I ran last summer, vegged for 8 weeks with a little early topping. This was under a 600 with 6 other plants just like it.001.jpg

Wanted to add, that wasn't the finished pic. either. It takes awhile to finish, but 1 pheno is awesome with a nice citrus aroma. I don't know if it was me or not but it didn't get very frosty but did have a nice kick. I pulled 6 1/2 ounces of that plant and 3 1/2 of the smallest. I figured since I've grown what you are, this might help you some. Have Fun and enjoy!

I don't get it... it's not like when you have 10 plants opposed to 1 they work as a team a grow faster and bigger, they each get less room the more plants total.. you can pull the same amount with 1-3 big plants opposed to 9 small ones
but it takes longer to grow 1-3 big plants
this system is about a fast turnover.
