1000w ballast problems

Ugh what a day its been. Wake up and everything looks great, pretty excited nearing harvest. Go take a shower, check em again 45 mins later and my light is super dim. At first i hoped it might be the bulb dying, it is a good 7 months old after all and i was planning to buy a new one soon. So i head to the local shop and pick up a new one, no dice still dim. Gave it plenty of time to reach full bright but its at the exact same light level as it was with the last bulb. So now im looking to the ballast, it should still be under warranty but i cant really afford the time to ship it back and wait, so guess ill try paying to have it fixed locally. But before i do that, is anyone familiar with the problem im having, is it going to turn out to be something stupid? ballast is only about 7 months same age as the bulb, its a Sun Systems 10 Econo Gro 1000w switchable ballast.

Sounds like the coil inside the ballast is toast. The hydro store locally or the warranty from the manufacturer can help you get it fixed. The bulb normally when dying wont just go super dim, it'll just lose brightness slowly over a long period of time.

I figured the same about the bulb, lady at the hydro store felt pretty confident it could be bulb lol but she prolly just wanted me to throw $80 at the problem. i plan to take it in tomorrow to see what its gonna cost, any chance you could throw out a ballpark on the cost of the part?
