10" Q - Max Fan for 4x4 tent?

I found a really good deal (like 60% off retail) on a 10" Q-Max Fan, slightly used. If I put a 8" reducer and a 8" can-lite filter, and run the fan on the lowest setting (~800 cfm) is that still super overkill?

It sounds like a wind tunnel in the making. If you use a speed controller make sure its one that really dials the speed down.
My voltage stepper actually only goes down to 40% of max speed.

That will definitely be overkill. I made the mistake of getting a strong fan (740cfm) for my small tent and it's ridiculously loud and it's actually sucking the walls of my tent inward. Imo the only time you'll need an 800cfm fan is if you are growing in a very large tent/space (at least 8x8ft)

If you get the larger blower and run it slower with a variac it will be quieter while still providing the proper CFM. Plus if you expand and need a larger blower, you have one.
