10/14 ok for flower?

Is 10hrs lights and 14hrs dark ok for flowering? I have a plant that I want to flower so I can sample it and then throw it back into veg if I want clones but this is the only schedule I can accommodate.

Should work, might not see as much growth as a 12/12 but it is the uninterrupted dark period that is most important to the plant deciding to flower. I have mine on a 11.5/12.5 cycle and she seems to be loving it despite 30 less minutes of light.

That's a great question that I sadly don't have an answer to, but I am interested to know what other people say. I would be inclined to believe that that would be fine and the plant would treat it the same as a 12/12, I think it just isn't done because it doesn't fit most people's schedules. I've heard of people manipulating cycles to have longer or shorter days and I haven't seen any catastrophic problems, but I am not a hands on expert, just a guy who has done way too much research on this stuff hahaha

I think the biggest problem with going 14/14 is going to be setting your timer! Not sure what you have, but mine won't do it.

Ive thought about this as well. I usually run 11/13.
But Ive always wanted to know what would happen if you put a plant on like 24/24 or 36/12 or just something crazy like that.

It will flower on 13/11 not sure on 14/10. I know studies have been done on THC production and that less than 12 hours of light will yield less THC production.
I know of growers who have run 13/11 for years and swear by it. You may have to kick start the flowering process first if you are going to use 14/10, could be a hermie risk in messing with the light schedule though. I am also curious if 14/10 will work.

why not just take a clone of said plant, veg it out for a week or two, and flower the clone? Use that as your sample to judge it, don't flower the mom and then reveg it...way more work than it has to be.

Plus this way if you do decide to keep it, you can take 10-20 more right away and do a batch

cheers

I was thinking that they may need a kick start to get them to start flowering and not sure that 14/10 would do it. It may require something between 12/12 and 10/14 to start the flowering process and then a switch to 14/10 that would THEN sustain the flowering cycle. That switch from 10/14 to 14/10 could be very stressful to the plant (but I am not completely sure it is necessary). Also, not sure if you could go 12/12 for 5-7 days to start the process then switch to 14/10 in your situation?

My gut tells me they would flower on 14/10, but may take a lot longer to develop. Again, just going from gut there. I do have confidence that once the flowering process has started it is much easier to maintain with less darkness than is customary.

I think the person who should chime in if possible is the admin username: rollitup I know they use 13/11 to flower and will have a much better idea if 14/10 would work from the beginning.

Well the only problem with that is that I mainlined it and can't take clones unless I grow it out way more. Plus there is no guarantee that it's female. Plus it's a random that either has polyploidy or whorled phylotaxy. So I dunno how the smoke will be. Otherwise I would def do that.

And if you get watermelon size buds you'll private message everyone on the thread and not post publicly about it??? Yes?

Good luck, sounds interesting!

Interesting. I always thought 12 hours of darkness was needed for flowering. But like you said, maybe that is just to induce flowering...

I know one thing, Im not experimenting on mine! No problems with 12/12 over here :D
