First of all, let me just say - I'm feel'n ya'll. To be honest, i don't have much use for 'friends' but i think i might just get along with Riz 'n Shady. Can i be on ur team ?!

Second, let me just say, "YOU'RE DOING IT RIGHT". Anyone that says otherwise is a douche.

My biggest concern was if your tray setup would allow you to optimally use the footprint that is created under all those lumens. i think you'll be fine. the trays are close enough that eventually you'll spread the plants out in each tray and achieve a lovely sea of green. to that end, i see they've already been topped and i would continue to focus on horizontal rather than vertical growth. there's really no point in making them more than 3' feet tall before switching them to flower... better if they are 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide than 5 feet tall and 2 feet wide (at least in a flat garden).

can't believe you actually plumbed a soil grow for run-off !! as said before, this setup of yours is 'the tits'.

the only real suggestion that i can think of is make sure you have at least one complete backup system (lamp, ballast, cords, etc.) if not two complete backups. everytime you enter the room you'll look to see if all 10 burners are still burning. eventually one of them won't be. count on it.

Kinda calling yourself a douche there aren't you by also questioning if his setup was ideal even if only in your head?

I don't think anybody said they weren't "doing it right" they questioned if it was optimal or whether that 10k would yield more in another configuration... That's a far cry from "not doing it right" I would say they for sure are doing it up right just not the most ideal layout is all. Respect from me guys don't take what I say the wrong way...

and the other side would argue that they are doing it right because a flat garden can be a fast turnover garden... pulling out a nice gram-per-watt-per-killowat hour .

I'll pull more weight per light but I'm in the slow lane with trees in dirt and vertical bulbs. I wouldn't suggest the style I'm using for them either though, nor did I. I don't think I ever suggested a style I could just see what the others were saying.

What up people!!

Sorry I've been gone so long. Like I said a couple weeks ago, been extremely busy, but my outdoor commitments are winding down, so I can breathe a little now.

So here's a quick little update for ya.........plants are still in veg, probably will be for a couple more weeks.............roots are poking through the bottoms of the smart pots...................they have been getting a lower strength dose of Canna Terra every watering, will probably give 'em a nice little flush before the flip...............growth has been outstanding, no complaints there, although there are some that are wanting to grow up and up and up, so we're gonna tie them down and out to increase the spread, open 'em up, and get a more even canopy throughout the room.

Anyway, thanks for those of you who are sticking around, and for those who still don't seem to get it, last chance, last warning on the bullshit. I'm not going to say anything else, I'm just gonna start ignoring you, one by one, straight the fuck outta my thread. Even if I like you.

I probably missed it someplace but which strain are you growing and in what type of soil? Also, you said the roots are sticking out of the smart pots... are they made for this purpose and does water drain out of the smart pot? Whats the advantage of smart pots vs regular plastic grow bags?

Since you clearly can't go read on the first page, I'll do it for you...

Strain:
We'll be runnin a local dank strain to start out with, then we'll probably pop up to Van., B.C. to pick up some select strains for future runs.

Soil/Pots:
We're doin around 30 plants, 3 plants per 3x3 tray, 10 gallon Smart Pots, Roots Organic soil mix.

More or less the bag's dry out , supply more oxygen to the roots, allowing more frequent feedings...

Wassup Riz and Shady B! Just popping in to check on your guys progress. This is a top notch journal, as your documentation is meticulous especially for this being your first run in here. I am excited to see what changes you guys make for the future if any. Without a doubt the room is looking better and better every time you guys post. I will have my own sanctuary of ganja one day such as yours.... If only my state would allow for MMJ already. 1 question for you guys since you are vegging with HPS bulbs...and am actually doing the same.. have you noticed any difference in growth? I know the big argument for Metal Halide in the veg and HPS for flower... HPS in the veg seems to producing amazing results for me, and looks the same for you. Any thoughts on if there is a big difference? Keep on rocking in the free world!! peace-boulderheads

On my first grow i vegged and flowered under a HPS light and the plant got big and I had a decent yield. On my 2nd grow i vegged with a MH and it did make my plants shorter and bushier plus the nodes were closer together. As a newbie, I dont know if there are any differences in "YIELDS" but i can clearly see a major difference in the plants height and node spacing.

Gah I can't wait till this goes to flower.. keep checkin every day ;p

yah, i'd be tempted to bush-wack a couple of the taller girls... but even if you went to flower right now i think you'd have some monsters. i bet you got good lumens even between each tray so hopefully those branches start to almost touch from one tray to the next.

and i love u oregon meds. "we don't want no drama, no drama, no drama drama drama". i just think theres a fine line between bouncing ideas around, ie; "hey, have you considered hyrdo, it looks like it would be easy enough to make the transition if you ever get the urge" vs. insisting that someone knows the true and proper bestest way to grow weed, ie; "why aren't you doing a vertical hydro with those bulbs?". theres 101 ways to grow the weed... and i do believe that these fellows will get some results - which is all that matters.

Hello again all! Boulder, good to see you back. DaGambler - very well put. Thank you to all who are supporting us and keeping tabs. ANY ideas are good ones, just keep the ideas positive.

Ok so now we have finished week 2, this is the second full week of all light and in there proper pots. The Smart Pots have really done quite well, suprisingly so. The roots have now not just come out the sides but out of the bottoms as well!!! In two weeks!!

Strain: Hawaiian/Dutch indoor cross breed. High potency, wonderful smell and flavor. We'll show you some pics of what it should turn out like when i get another sample here shortly.

The Co2 is up and running!!! HOORRAYY!! The effects were immediate! The plant grows fast and the leaves respond by being crisp and firmly pointed at the lights. The temp has increased slightly with the addition of the Co2 Gen, but we have a free flowing system for the water cooling so we just cranked that up a bit and also you will notice the 12" Max and Carbon filter are back, so with that blowing around there are no heat pockets in the room at all, the high temp of the day is now 76.5 degrees!! That is all math and planning!!

The stalks of the largest ones are now all tied down, by the end of the hour after we had tied them down they were already turning toward the lights again. Resilient plants.

I hope people have been looking for the power drill. There is a size ratio in every pic post i do. Keep looking for the drill and you can get a size difference between weeks. Wish you all the best.
