Not sure where to post this thread, but since I am growing in a small space this seems as good a place as any. I have a 1.75' w x 1.75' L x 5.5' H Closet grow space, and a 150w hps + 69w 2700K CFL Light source. Plants seem to be growing very well, but they seem to be pokey. White widow seems to be taking forever to fill out after six weeks,IMG_0958.jpgIMG_0961.jpg though she has a ton of budding sites.

Pineapple express is growing truly huge fan leaves,IMG_0960.jpg and has only just started to bud, but is showing a familiar growth pattern so I am not too concerned about her.

I am hoping to reach a goal of about an ounce per plant, it would be pretty sweet.

I have only been growing for about a year, and this grow is the best looking so far. Only concerned about how slow its going and the fluffy appearance of white widows buds.

your Pineapple is a beauty! Such nice green leaves! Keep it up man!
How did you set up with your space? I'm having a difficult time, my 2' by 2' tent doesn't fit in my closet haha.

Well first I used six screws to install a support structure to the wall, namely three hunks of 2x4 wood, and I screwed the rest of the whole support structure, and the fiberboard that cuts my closet in half to the long piece of wood attached to the pieces of 2x4.IMG_0964.jpg After the fiberboard was in, I put in a mirror for the ceiling. Found a bunch of plastic mirrors in a k-mart dumpster quite a few years back. Its -bad- to have mirrors though unless they are not opposing one another. They increase the temperature and burn your plants. There is another mirror to the left of my HPS, due to it being on the left side of the grow space. Helps out quite alot, as there was a huge bright spot on the wall that was getting wasted, and not is getting shined back where it needs to be.IMG_0966.jpg

The air intake is a four inch duct hidden inside a pair of black jeans on the floor.IMG_0962.jpg black to stop light from leaking out of the white plastic. I have two computer exhaust fans inside a four inch duct blowing air into the crawl space. I work with convection, using the heat from the lights to form a pool of hot air on the top of the grow space, allowing cool air to be sucked in from below while my "Reverse chimney" IMG_0965.jpg Sucks out all that hot air. So all in all I worked with what I had. I tweaked and added different things as I needed. Simple things like using printer paper to line your walls can keep the temperature down.

If I were you I would return the tent and try to find ways to use your closet as is. But I have never used one, and suspect that it could reflect better quality light and offer better temperature control.

Well my grow is progressing nicely. its about a week later and white widow has gotten lots heavier.IMG_0980.jpgIMG_0977.jpgIMG_0978.jpg

My strange-ling plant twisted sister is getting closer to harvest IMG_0981.jpgIMG_0999.jpg

Pineapple express is exploding. Its doing very well, I can expect some very dense rock hard nugs from it when its done.IMG_0974.jpgIMG_0975.jpg

I can't wait to see the yields from white widow. It literally has more budding sites than I can hope to count, and I had to truss its limbs because they were spreading out due to their weight.

Yeah its a sun system, put it on layaway and paid a good hunk of it with bottle returns. I still like some good cfl's on the side though. gets the light in just where you need it sometimes. Also, it might be nice to try some quarter inch thick plexiglass in the interior in an attempt at using fiber optic light, That way even if leaves touch the walls they are not blocking thier own light.

If I can only get rid of the damn gnats.. and get my mother garden healthy again. Two strains of bag seed have been hit pretty hard by root damage. See I thought they were suffering from hard water deposits and high salt. So I broke the least desirable plant off and broke up a good portion of root ball, but since all three mothers were in the same flower trough, they all got damaged. also I -heavily- flushed the whole thing over a period of three hours. They all got sick, and are only now drying out two weeks later. Not sure if I should clone or risk disturbing the roots again.

White widow mother is doing pretty good, Hairy Mary (bag seed) Is also doing alright, but I would not say great. Twisted sister ( bag seed ) is doing gnarly. only the terminal tips are growing and all the leaves either have massive brown spots or are brown and crispy and in the process of falling off. Its barely alive, but seems to be growing. Hoping to clone. I am in the process of changing to bags. Tired of having my spaces used inefficiently.

Pineapple express and northern berry are already in bags and seem happy, nice and green. But I am starting to worry about our water.

Looking great Nander! Currently running CFL's here, but hoping to upgrade to a Sun System 150w HPS once finances permit. Though looking at your pics, makes me think I need to take a drive and pick one up today! DAMN you!!! Thanks for sharing and I'm sub'ed for ride..

Thank you. And for a long time I was convinced that CFL bulbs would do me just fine, but I just was not really getting large enough yields. Not going to wait three months for a quarter ounce. originally I had 211 watts of only CFL. That put out 12,000 lumens. Thats alright.. but 20,000 lumens with one CFL and one sun system 150, adding only 2 more watts is a lot better. Not to mention you don't have to constantly adjust and raise hot fragile bulbs all the time as your plants grow.

I looked at the spectrums of CFL and HPS with my homemade spectroscope and did not see that much different, a little more yellow and red. With plants that seem to be taking an unusually long time to show sex or flower, I like to put a small 13 watt CFL party bulb in the large bulbs place. It only emits yellow, orange and red light. Seems to get them blooming.

CFL does start faster than HPS, but HPS tends to linger after its turned off more than CFL. To adjust for this, I removed a half hour of light. 11.5 on and 12.5 off. But only because I use the two together.

Tomorrow I will post some new pictures. White widow is starting to smell and look realllly good.

Looking forward to some more pics. My current grow I changed a few things, different soil, Scrog and reduced feeding/watering. I'm going to see how that effects my yield, then I think next run I will get the 150 HPS to see what that does. Trying not to change too many things at once as I try to fine tune growing to the space.

Well I just harvested half of white widow. Maybe a bit more than half. Also had to go down south due to a family crisis. why it took so long to get these pics up.

White widow is done. Since it is a sleepy or couch lock strain for my current patient, I will let the tops go as long as possible before harvest.IMG_1114.jpgIMG_1117.jpgIMG_1118.jpgIMG_1119.jpgIMG_1123.jpg

Pineapple express seems to be maturing right around the same time. Growth has completely halted. I will choose a larger container next time.IMG_1084.jpgIMG_1121.jpg

I stuffed my dehydrating chamber completely full of white widow bud, my drying sock too. I like how it has three functions at the same time. My plants sit on it, my weed dries in it, and it funnels my smelly exhaust into the crawlspace. IMG_1124.jpgIMG_1125.jpgIMG_1127.jpg

Soon I will need to take a clone of something, though out of five mothers its hard to make a choice. IMG_1104.jpg

I harvested the rest of white widow. Its seems to me that the dry weight will be close to 1.75 oz. IMG_1132.jpgIMG_1134.jpgIMG_1135.jpgIMG_1136.jpgIMG_1137.jpgIMG_1146.jpg

I am completely happy with the results. It is some mind blowing stuff, the best I have grown so far. :bigjoint:
