.0135" High Pressure Mist Nozzle

After much looking on the internet for mist nozzles that would meet my application, and seeing that they cost $2.50/ea and I need 24 of them, I decided to embark on a DIY project.

What is a mist nozzle you ask? It's a tiny effin hole. I used a .0135" drill bit to make a hole in some 1/4" soft copper tubing, slapped some fittings on it, applied water and pressure and voila! An ultra fine mist nozzle capable of producing >50 micron droplets. I started with 60PSI and that was not sufficient, but once turned up to 120PSI+ you get a really nice mist.

For $2.80 for a .0135" drill bit you can make as many misting nozzles as your grass smoking heart desires. My design is a copper tubing ring which will sit around the net pot and have 3 misting holes in it to spray the roots down from 3 different angles.

Be mindful that if you do use very small mist nozzles like this that you will want a really good filter on the nute supply and also an air filter/moisture trap on the compressed air line. I wasn't surprised when after a few moments of testing the hole clogged up and I had to stick the drill bit in the hole to clear it.
