would clipping them allow more light to the buds? is that important?

i am in my 7th week of flowering and the fan leaves seem to be dying. is this normal? it seems, from what i've read, that clipping them is not advisable. but i've seen pictures of people's plants where the leaves seemed to have been removed.

i've read up on buying a magnifier, and i will do that today. the buds on the top of my plant have red pistils and the ones on the bottom have white ones still. is it possible that i will harvest the plant in sections?

i have a plant with about 20 small buds on it (it's not such an impressive plant, but i'm trying this for the first time). anyway, it's been flowering for several weeks and i'm curious, if i were to pick one bud early, would that be bad for the rest of the plant?
