    Lux and Purple LEDs

Right. That's a good point. I think it's red herring to suggest that I need accurate readings, though. Let's say I'm not using lux. Let's make up a unit, so people don't get caught up on the accuracy. The issue is, if most people have these poorly performing light meters (maybe on their phone...

    Lux and Purple LEDs

So with my phone Lux meter I am getting about 20,000 lux at the canopy with blue and red LEDs. Using a black star flowering LED advertised as 500W that's actually about 240. My plants are acting like I'm giving them too much light. So, does anyone know if 20,000 LED lux translates higher or...

    Homemade Coco Nutes

Does anyone use miracle grow + flora micro and Epsom as a coco fert for veg? Or does anyone make their own ferts from base chemicals? Or does everyone just buy ferts?

    A Guide To Colloidal Silver

It was years ago and I wrote all the info down on the bottle in which I stored it, but that bottle now has other writing on it, too, so I don't know for sure. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2590638/ I believe I read this article back in the day and used it as a foundation. What I...

Why is no-one ever using a Coco/Vermiculite (and some Perlite) Mix?

I just mixed some small grain vermiculite with coco. It just "looks good". Hopefully it "grows well", too.

Coco Run off looks like Coco Cola

It was the cheastest big brick on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-GROW-JSCPB-Coco-Brick/dp/B008PGHCKW/ref=sr_1_26?keywords=coco+coir&qid=1559628865&s=gateway&sr=8-26 this stuff. Except it was one big brick instead of three small ones.

Coco Run off looks like Coco Cola

I am trying out coco again after having little success. I have rinsed, charged, then rinsed again. I noticed after a week of daily waterings with 200 ppm solution that the run off is still looks like coffee or diluted cola. How many times must I wash the coco before the run off is clear?

    Is my plant ok

So how about you 1) put a small paper bag around the cup so light doesn't get it, 2) stop feeding with nutes, and 3) water the moment the top gets dry? OR replant into a larger container, even if it's one of those one gallon, 6 inch pots? If that is just straight peat moss you should 4) throw...

Dolomite Lime and Coco - pH problems?

Yeah when I used it the first few times I would water it every other day  I've stayed away from crushed shells because they don't have magnesium, but I use epsom sals anyway so....

    Do I defoliate for 2nd time ?

You should remove all leaves and buds that are below the canopy. So, if you look down from the top, anything you don't see you should remove. They won't produce close to anything, they reduce air flow, and most importantly they increase your trimming time substantially.

    Another how long thread

Man If you shell out a cool 15 on amazon for a 30-60x magnifying glass you'll be able to tell yourself by looking at the trichomes. And it's fun! I agree with padawan. It's got a ways to go. It looks like it hasn't fattened up yet and if you let it keep growing you'll get a huge yield increase...

    Is my plant ok

Did anyone else notice he's using a 30-10-10 fert twice a week? I'll bet he's only watering twice a week, too. Can you tell us how often you water and what your climate is like? Are you growing in peat moss? Anyway, my guess is with that amount of soil the medium dries out quickly. I am also...

    HARVEST QUESTION

Hey man, I used to work in a washington licensed grow and we trimmed and dried a lot. We found that it is easier to trim while you take them down because the leaves are still stiff and easy to access. It makes them easier to spot and lets you cut them with more accuracy. As far as drying and...

Dolomite Lime and Coco - pH problems?

Hey everyone! I am trying coco again after using peat moss for the past few years. I got in trouble with coco awhile back when I treated it like soil and also used organic nutes. This time it's back to miracle grow. I am using cheap brick coco, and rinsed it, let it sit over night, then...

DIY Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) of cannabinoids at home - tutorial

I used chloroform in the lower two pictures. Also, in my last post I meant to say Fast Blue B, not Fast Black K. Fast Black K is toxic and doesn't differentiate between cannabinoids.

    Lux and Purple LEDs

It is Chinese Communist Party LED Company; about 12 by 12 of light aperture. Let's say 75% of the leds are red and 25% blue. Let's use that assumption as the spectral distribution of wattage. But none of this really matters if someone can test two meters on a similar purple light, right?

    Lux and Purple LEDs

Hi there everyone. I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I know the conventional wisdom is that you can't use a lux meter to measure purple LEDs. But surely there is a conversion fact one can use to approximate good distance from purple LEDs. I'm asking anyone who has a lux meter, a PAR...

DIY Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) of cannabinoids at home - tutorial

Top is from a fancy smancy lab plate from long ago. I only posted this to show the cripsness they can provide. The other two were run recently on alumina-based plates from amazon. As you can see, the fancy plates under UV fluoresce very well. But my main question is about the lower two...

    What’s on my leaves????

He Casey, there has been activity on that thread I posted and someone has suggested that my symptoms could have been mites and that I didn't use enough magnification to rule out russet or broad mites. So although I am skeptical that there are mites smaller than the depth of the leaf cuticle that...
