I've been using vinegar in my res. to lower the ph and I have zero problems. Plants are healthy and progressing nicely.....that is in an aeroponic system though. soil grown may react differently.

I think you got that one backwards.... vinegar will lower the ph level and baking soda will raise it. I learned that one the hard way.

Question: PH set to 5.8? Maybe I sound stupid, but I have read that PH should be set to between 6.5 and 7.5. Have I been lied to?? ~Sickboy71

I don't have many power losses where I live, but I use a battery backup system similar to the kind made for PC's. Probably wouldn't be great for extended power loss, but works great for short term.
