Question re safely removing a male from the AG

Thanks, Froman. I'll do that next time (which of course I hope wont happen). Glad to know I probably wont have a bunch of rotting roots to worry about.

Question re safely removing a male from the AG

Thanks to comments on Newbie Central yesterday, I discovered that one of my two plants was a male. Is there a safe way to remove it without damaging the root structure of the remaining plant (since they were entwined)? Without much thought I just pulled it out upward through the grow hole roots...

Strange "buds" at nodes- what are they?

So let me try to get my hopes up about the remaining plant which hasn't shown signs of sex. From Melangwanja, not-female in a feminized line has about a 1 in 10 chance of occurrence. So two rolls of the "dice" would be 1/10 times 1/10 or a chance of 1/100 of having two plants be non-female...

Strange "buds" at nodes- what are they?

I removed it. Wondered if there is any potency at all in a male plant?

Strange "buds" at nodes- what are they?

Well, the best laid plans have gone awry!!! All this fussing... my first grow... only to have been sold bad seed. Think I'll send the pic to the vendor. Luckily, maybe, two plants are in the AG, and the other is younger by a week and not (yet?) showing this.

Strange "buds" at nodes- what are they?

What are these growths called that are appearing on at the nodes of my Lowryder 2 feminized? They look like buds but I think they aren't. The plants is about 3 weeks old and in an Aerogarden.

Adding a third light to AG Classic Hood

Shack: Foil removal is in the "plan". I ordered a small grow cabinet from Walmart (only available online): http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8206250#ProductDetail It was supposed to be delivered yesterday, but according to them is "delayed". I plan to spray the inside...

Adding a third light to AG Classic Hood

This is a first (and total amateur) grow using the AG Classic I saw a way on this site to add a third light to the two-light AG hood and decided to try it. It ended up being pretty simple. Pop out the AG logo on the hood, pushing from the inside of the hood. Get an extension cord. Test...

    Badminton Shuttlecocks

Considering a homemade bubbleponics . Seems to me that badminton shuttlecocks (yep, that's what they're called) with rock wool and the rubber tip pulled off would be a good thing to put into the holes of a homemade device. Just an idea.

    Cheap OTC nutes

Thanks, Fox, for the reminder. I figure if they show signs of impending disaster I can always use the OTC stuff in the garden and get some recommended nutes at the hydroponics shop. Then, either save the plants or start a new grow. Ironic that the seeds are pretty much the cheapest expense in...

    Cheap OTC nutes

I'm doing a first grow with the AG, so keep that in mind while reading the following. I have read that many other nutes are more highly preferred than what might be called over-the counter products, but hey, I'm a cheapie. I saw that some have mentioned Miracle-Gro Patio food as a veg...

    LST with Aerogarden

Tried some locally purchased "adhesive putty" for LST. It doesn't work well with string...slices through it slowly like cheese. I was able to make it work using sturdy twisties bent into a squarish shape...but think it isn't worth the effort. Back to the old standby...duct tape. Run some...

    LST with Aerogarden

I was thinking about the same problem. I wondered it Quakehold museum putty might work? It's supposed to stick to surfaces and normally is used to hold down vases, etc, to their shelf in an earthquake. Some users have stuck plates on walls. It's pliable, ie a putty, and I thought it could be...
