How am i doing on my first grow

I put baking soda powder on a few of my lower leafs thinking it might be helpful. Now ive cut like 12 leafs off. My question is will it hurt my plant. Even tho the top of my plant is still looks very good its just a few of my bottom lower leafs what should i do and will it be ok.
