What type of soil is good that I can buy at Walmart?

Driving to a hydro store is a good way to pick up a trace, too, if you live in certain places.

They look good; no worries. Most plants dispense with those single starter leaves early on

What type of soil is good that I can buy at Walmart?

Was at the big box today for tomatoes and peppers and came across "Jungle Growth" organic potting soil. Bought a 1.5 cubic foot bag for $7; enough to fill 4 2-gal pots. Nice looking stuff; we'll see how it does. http://www.junglegrowthusa.com/

New to everything, Curling leaves 13 days in.

Looks good; at least she's still upright. Just let her chill in that new soil; she should take off.

Help needed ASAP for leaf issues during flowering

Hmmm.. still hard to see what's really going on, but do I see curly, crispy leaves up top? Most of the time, plants like that come from feeding high-P foods during stretch phase, when the plants really need more N than anything (think about it -- the plant is putting on 2-4" of green leaves and...

    Reel's Closet (Speedy Seedz)

Aw, heck, Reelzy.. they all look pretty good. The lemon skunks may look a little scrunchy and yellowy -- any chance they're a little overwatered? Dunno... just the way the pic's strike me. Never grown lemon skunk; maybe that's just how they roll early on. I'll keep a chair pulled up - lemon...

Oaksterdam t-5 veg 600w hps flower

Lookin' great bro... Looks like you really have the grow bug! Which makes me curious, how do smoking and growing rate against each other these days? I'm at a point where growing is at least equal; the smoke bothers my lungs and sinuses to a point that I really don't have a desire to smoke out...

Home made cabinet for 1st CFL grow!!

Nice work, bigman.. I can't believe that head bud - that plant had a helluva journey, and just looks great now. I'm really loving the Dyna Gro stuff too - works great, mixes right up to 6.5 in my tap water, and no burns or weirdness whatsoever. Good luck with your new seedlings - I love the...

New to everything, Curling leaves 13 days in.

Ah, yes... good picture and dissection of the problem. There's no remaining doubt in my mind - a seedling like that would usually have a tap root 3-4 times its length going straight down from the plant. Did you replant that sucker after you broke up the puck? I hope so -- she'll take right up...

That is odd - the short root and all - that's why the plants are struggling. That's way behind the curve for root development at 13 days. I transplanted some plants 7-8 days old a little while back, and they'd filled out a party cup by then. Well, I think the transplant was the right thing, then.

    Miracle grow ph ?

The blue powder MG 24-8-16 is in the perfect ratio all the way until stretch ends; a little short on micros, though. MG stuff counts on the soil to provide micros, which usually works out fine. Personally, I prefer Dyna Gro stuff because it contains full micros, a good cal/mag balance, and no...

Hopefully, it can find its way out of that puck -- that might be the problem. Usually, the roots will be 2-3X as wide as the plant top, and 2-4X deeper at that growth stage. I'm surprised you were able to get the plant out that cleanly after 13 days.

What type of soil is good that I can buy at Walmart?

Yup.. not too much Foxfarm stuff at WalMart. If the money is not an issue, you could check your local garden / landscape outfit(s); some of them will carry a wider variety of soils incld. FF

Help needed ASAP for leaf issues during flowering

Did this start bottom-up? Did the leaves yellow all over, and THEN develop brown spots? If it's "yes" to both questions, that's nitrogen deficiency - very common in early flower. That even yellowing in your pic's sure looks like it. N demand is very high during stretch; alot of people switch...

Tis the season: bubblelicious and superskunk 400W grow

Thanks everyone, for the nice comments. I found this the toughest time last year, too -- just chillin' out those last weeks...uhhhh... I really wanna get my fingers sticky.

    Miracle grow ph ?

MG soils should really be run 3-4 weeks before you add any outside nutrients; they already have nutes in them and adding more is usually overkill. I'm not familiar with bio-tone. Usually, bone meal and blood meal are used together in soil mixes to balance Phos and nitrogen. Don't use bone meal...

That soil looks tight as a drum; roots need air. Bentonite clay is usually used to seal the tops of groundwater wells - that stuff has no business being in a pot with any plant. At that delicate stage, you might have to hope they ride it out but, as poor as that plant looks at 13 days, you may...

    ? about curling leaves

I don't think that's anything - they look great. MJ leaves do all kinds of funny little things. The key thing is that they're even-green, turgid, and free of spots. I will say your light is way too far away at 28 inches. Get it down to 12" or so.

    Advice or opinion?

Your plants look great; so far so good. One thing I'd warn you about -- I think the Foxfarm feed schedule tells you to switch to Tiger Bloom at 12/12 (haven't looked at their scheds in awhile). If it does, don't do it. Stick with your grow formula until your height growth levels off. Plants...
