As far as I know, it only slows at frost temps. It's always flowering. If 50's is your overnight temp you have nothing to worry about. Freezing is death, and if its outdoor there's nothing you can do but pull it. My temps are around 40 at night right now and I still have about 3 weeks left...

It works by keeping the ground and anything above the rocks warmer, 6 to 7 feet might be pushing it, I lst all my shrubs so they never get higher than 4 feet. :)

Actually it's both keeping the ground warm plus heating the immediate area around your plants, not so much to stimulate growth (it does help) but to prevent damage from cold temps. I can't stress enough to put some sort of protective layer of gravel between the rocks and ground to prevent drying...

I should mention a cool down period of about half an hour. Putting that hot ass rock under there could cause damage.
