It doesnt really matter. it shouldn't take long for the seed to sprout, so a matter of a few days during the veg stage is just preference.

Yeah, go for it, the best way to find out is to do it for yourself. do it this time, not next time, or vice verse. see what happens and share it.

It will help the roots develope by giving it more darkness. plants need dark as well.
