People QB any heat management suggestions?

My 240 driver at 280w is warm to touch with 4 132 boards running off it. 1 little fan blowing across them all towards the exhaust and no real heat. I'm going to go test my boards and drivers now with infrared thermometer...

Ok so 240 driver is running at 37c/98.6f with boards at 35c/95f. 320 driver at 320w is 32c/89.6f and it's running two 324 boards at 40c/104f

That's because of the 110vac input. Do you have access to 220-240vac? The difference is ~25%! Or 6% heat with 230v but ~8% at 110v. Plywood needs +230°C or more to start burning, I don't think the is a reason to worry
So are you saying a 110V led is not a good fit for the majority of home growers just setting up a tent in a spare bed room? :P

You can use what you like but when you have access to both 110 and 220vac, better use 220v.
Meanwell drivers work more efficient @220v.
For the HLG-120 for instance it's 2% corresponding to the datasheet.
And as you know, better efficiency means less consumption and a better g/w ratio. I've seen people who have exchanged their entire LED's because of 2% effiency improvements.
Vero gen 5 and gen.6 differed approximately in this area(2-4%).

Effiency is the main reason why LED starts to displace HPS.

An HLG-240 produces about 6% heat at full load (250w), so 15w pure heat. An HLG-480 dimmed down to 250w will produce about 8% heat (20w) just because it lose some efficiency at only 50% load(~3%)
My HLG-240H-C1050A runs at 280W at the wall. So 30W of heat.
And at ambient temp 23°C on full load (230V) it reaches 55°C.

If you have the driver mounted on top of the sink its going to take the heat away from the sink and thus be very hot. My QB drivers are very hot. My COB drivers are not mounted to my fixture and are luke warm. Drivers by design are made to be thermally conductive. Taking the drivers off the sink and mounting them outside by extending the wire is going to reduce heat in the tent obviously. I have never had to do it because my environment was great temp wise but its the first thing I would do if I was struggling.
Well, apart from getting the extracted heat out of the house would be the first thing!!

Of course, these are typical numbers and there are other factors effecting driver effiency. As with most electronic devices, there are slight deviations up or down. Ambient temperature has, for example, also an influence ..

I have a fancy 6" exhaust coming, I'm hoping this will reduce heat. I like the driver on the heat sync since I it's the only place I can think of that won't combust! Lol

It would have to get pretty damn hot to combust, I would imagine that it would shut down far before it actually got that hot to combust anything, melting components inside first..

I have carpet and more carpet .. lol maybe I can get a chunk of aluminum outside the tent to place it on. I'll see what the 6" exhaust does first. Really like this 260qb it looks so... high quality. I don't know how else to describe it. The guys at growers lights finally woke up after a week of vacation? Idk lol, but the customer support has been tops!

Yea, I now have 11 QB boards lmao well 5 legit and 6 knockoffs

Lol not yet, but hopefully next grow it will be. I haven't made my new light fixture yet so.

In order for the driver to generate more heat than the load, the driver would have to have an efficiency of under 50%.

If you have a 49% efficient driver and a 100W load (100W of heat), you'd be pulling 100W/0.49 = 204W from the wall. 104W of that would be consumed by the driver (104W of heat).

oh really, have you run a hlg600 without a fan on it?
I have 4 x qb288 v2 @ 150w each on own driver and my tent stays 71-79 lights on and 60-70 lights off. I keep ZERO fans on leds. Drivers mounted outside tent(keep a fan on those and they stay cool)
