Ok everyone, I'm here to get advice and keep you guys up to speed with my first growing experience. I'm doing this outdoors over the summer, growing purple power, feminized seeds.

So i have 4 feminzed purple power seeds that are gonna grow outside in northern new england, that should have a lot of tending...what kind of yield do you think i'll have?

well that depends on a few things..how are ya gonna grow em? are you gonna put them in buckets or in the ground? you got to make sure you are nuting them properly to get max results, i suggest something along the lines of organicare pure grow. it's real easy, you only need to apply to soil once every 2 weeks and its all organic, good stuff. they got a different kind for veg and flowering. but if you do it right, good soil, proper nutes and watering you could yield anywhere from a half to a couple P's in the ground. less if in buckets.

honestly probably not what you are hoping for man. no ones first time is perfect haha mine sucked. i did my first grow outdoors last year and my conditions ended up being aweful and the bud i got sucked but i i finished!

we all have visions of harvesting monster buds but its gonna take a few tries to get your shit together. i had three failed indoor grows this winter before i finally started getting it right! i am more confident about this seasons outdoor op. thanks to the (limited) experience i have gathered over the past year.

i recommend choosing a decent soil and one, maybe two nutrient additives to feed with. SIMPLICITY means everything when its your first time! now i am not saying you are gonna fail either! depending on how things go this summer, you'll probably get a good amount off 4 plants. just dont set you expectations toooo high, you're gonna be happy with anything you harvest because you grew it yourself.

Good Luck! im still a rookie so you can take it or leave it with my advice.

I'm gonna do it straight in the ground, as natural as possible. Whats nuting?

@RockstarEnergy I'm trying to set my expectations low, a half ounce per plant i feel is realistic, but even just a ounce of my own that i grew? that should make me smile bongsmilie
Any advice is helpful, thanks man.

oh yea im sure you'll make your goal with plants straight into the ground. nuting is when you mix either liquid or powder nutrient concentates into your water to feed with. or when you add nutrients to your soil at the beginning.

i would look into a one step veg nutrient and a one step bloom nutrient. something with a fairly low NPK value(the three numbers on the bottle) to avoid burn issues.

I'm definitely gonna use some nutrients, some vermiculite.

How much water should the plants get? At least some each day? So if it rains it should be ok, but if it doesn't rain, i should water it?
And should i put tin foil around the plants to increase the amount of sun that they are getting, even if they are doing ok, the more the better right?

do a test with your soil. put it in a pot, wet it, and see how long it stays moist. the bigger you're hole are the less you will need to water. DO NOT water everyday, that will drown the roots. the soil should be fairly dry before you water again.

its for indoor growing but the same rules still apply.

forget the tinfoil dude, the sun is more than enough. plus it could attract attention from above(planes, choppers, etc.). foil also can form hot spots and burn parts of your plants.

Yea, i'll forget the tinfoil. What are the chances of helicopters seeing 4 randomly placed plants in the country side around a few houses?
Neighbors wont be a problem.

thats why i said "could attract". its not all that likely but if they are surrounded be a bunch of reflective meterial, chances probably go up even though they arent looking.

yea i've definetly been thinking about that. I think i'm gonna put up some chicken wire fencing, also i have dog that sheds a shit load in the summer, so her fur will be spread around the plants. Also if i ever have to go to the bathroom out there, that'll help haha.

What about bugs though? Any advice there?

this is a good thread for me too check out.. im attempting my 1st outdoor grow as well.. I've done a few indoor grows.. each one got better and better. my last grow.. i only vegged for 3 weeks (from seed) and used only CFL's.. adn ended up with 3.15 ounces of dry White Widow buds... =) i was soo surprised with that yield!! heres the link to that journal.

https://www.rollitup.org/cfl-growing/288470-nirvanas-feminized-white-widow-cfl-69.html

and i have another growin now.. the link is in my sig.. but anywayz... i wanna try to grow one of my WW's outdoors.. adn im thinking about puting 1-2 mystery seeds out there as well with it... I live in the New England area as well.. sooooo im not sure how they will grow. =/

Ive asked around..a nd every1 sais May 1st is the best time to start.. soo i'll be a few weeks behind.. but better late than never right?/

im gonna start all the plants off indoors.. obviously.. and grow them for 2-3 weeks.. adn then bring them outside into the woods somewhere hidden.. and start digging.. i have a GIANT ass bag of Miracle Grow Moisture Control "GARDEN SOIL".. not potting soil.. i bought that on accident.. but now.. think i could put it to use for my outdoor grow.. since it hold moisture well.. adn has sum nutes in it already..

any1 know when flowering begins?? adn when it should be finished by??

oo. aiight cool. well then i have plenty of time. =) might plant a few outside then. ill start 1.. veg it for 2-3 weeks. then throw it outside and start another one. =)

I live in New Hampshire, did my first grow last year got almost a pound of four plants. It was tough though had to give them a lot of attention. Bugs and mold were a huge problem. Lost a plant to that crap. Where are you in new england? weather is tough. I got some Hollands Hope this year. Supposed to be good for colder climates and resistant to mold.

Vermont. I'm growing purple power because it was created to survive in a climate like ours. Would it be cool if i left my plants for a week or so?
Yea, any Dutch strains work pretty well for NE because we have similiar climates. You have any tips on stopping the bugs and mold?

For the bugs direct contact with an organic spray. Your not gonna have to worry about the mold till later september and october but remove at first sight. what you growin in? what kinda soil etc...
