Do pistils start out as balls?

Today I went to check on my only plant and it started showing very early signs of it's sex, (like 2-3 days ago this wasn't there at all) and they look like balls to me. I tried looking at it very closely and in my frustration I even accidentally broke a weak leaf off (it was heat damaged, first time growing :s) to try and get a good look at it. It's round, about the size of one of those tiny styrofoam beads that are in pillows or bean bag chairs or something. The only sign of it looking like a female to me is that there are tiny white hairs on it, especially on the top.

Maybe it's too early to tell? But really my question is if pistils ever look like little balls.

DAMN IT!

I put a lot of effort into that thing, was only one from my buddy's seeds that germed. I'm probably still going to grow it into flowering, just in case I'm mistaken and because by the time it's done my next attempt probably won't be flowering yet :/

The only thing you can really do is wait. The first time I sexed a plant I was the same way, I thought I was seeing balls but they all popped out two hairs. Ended up being female.

Jak, it doesn't look like either of those at all. It's a tiny tiny ball attached to the stem between the leaves.
sorry to crush any hope of it being female but that pretty much 99.99999% confirms its male to me. that is a perfect description of a male part you just gave.

Ugh, I knew this would happen as soon as I only got 1 plant. I don't think I've ever won anything on 50/50 odds.

Some of them do actually look different from the others, so I'm keeping it as long as it's not going to interfere with any females I get later on.

I'[ve been seeing a lot of growers getting pre-flowers mixed up with males pollen sacks.
Is the ball hanging from a thin stem that's attached to the stem, or is directly attached to the stem?

it sounds to me like just the little female calyxes starting, before they through out the first pistils, just wait your baby will be fine, and if not, bag the flowers and selectively breed your shit, you know, like a pro

Is it shaped like an oval with light vertical lines in it, or is it shaped like a Hershey kiss?
If the answer to this is it looks more like a hershey kiss, then I'm pretty sure it's a female pre-flower. Let me guess; your into week 3-8 veg state?

But it looks like a hershey's kiss too, it's thicker at the bottom than the top and attaches into the stem.

And yeah I'm in like week 2-3 of veg
